I visited from Scotland and wanted to try coffee from one of these coffee bars. Often, where I come from, it is odd to see even passable coffee sold at a bar, but it seems common here. While this place is small, they are very close to the high street but far enough to be quiet, dwarfed presumably by the fast food chains around the area. I ordered a flat white, but they often just seem to translate it as a cafe in leche (coffee and milk). However, it is exactly what I was looking for, but perhaps not the expected recipe. The milk is UHT which is extremely common here.
While the place wasn't particularly busy, it had a lot of finished drinks on the counter which wasn't such a great look, but they have to go somewhere!
The cafe generally is an inoffensively coloured, modern-ish grey and white. Everything looks relatively clean other than the glasses. There is very little seating inside, outside there are a number of tables, as you would expect. At the moment, there is building works on view for a tram route going through the street so you can't see much, but the junction will be quite busy once the work is complete, making it ideal for people watching while soaking in the culture!
A coffee and a small pannini was 4.50EUR but the coffee is relatively small, even in comparison to a flat white cup. Perhaps more like a cortado sized cup.
The cup did not have a lid you could drink through, it would be helpful if the lids had a mouthpiece.

Read moreLa Rabona is the beating heart of the business district of Nervión. Here you find the best of urban Spanish breakfast culture. You’ll always get fast service and (fast) good manners. The regulars give each other the time of day (proper Andalusian decorum, which you won’t see everywhere in Seville.) The proprietor is a very very cool guy, at the top of his game. Clearly he takes pride in being the best. If you’re working in Seville, breakfast at La Rabona might be the best part...
