Teteria Al Sultan was where my sweetheart and I decided to hunker down and hide from the Seville sun, nursing some hookah, sipping some tea, fwapping away at a laptop, before carrying on with our touristing. It didn't take long to notice that the waitstaff were sort of aloof, if not visibly annoyed, and kind of absent minded. As a service industry veteran myself, I assume many things in such situations, and malice is the last of them. If one's server is doing a subpar job at waiting on people, I find it's better to be compassionately curious than demanding and impatient. I took that curiosity up to the bar and struck up a conversation with a young man who introduced himself as Khaleel. Our conversation has stayed with me ever since. He is Jordanian, and therefore a native arabic speaker, but studied Spanish at the graduate level, and published a book of Spanish poetry, which apparently received high commendation among Spanish poets. Once we were seated at the front table, smoking cigarettes, drinking tea, and conversing in a mixture of Spanish and his third language of English, my entire experience was transformed. Politics, philosophy, history, economics, literature, war, suffering, beauty, nature, love, life, death... this disgruntled tea shop employee had thoughtful insights and observations on all of them, which when shared had the effect of lifting his mood (and mine) and brightening his eyes. He gave me a copy of that very book of poetry, and I promised I'd read it someday and report back to him. If you're reading this, Khaleel, I intend to keep that promise.
Come to Teteria Al Sultan and look for the Jordanian poet. If you're lucky, he'll invite you to a seat at the table in the front, and no matter what you order, or how long it takes to arrive, or what it looks or smells or tastes like, you'll have a experience that makes none of...
Read moreAbsolutely disastrous. We are Jordanian visitors of Sevilla and we were very excited to find a restaurant that had Arabic food, this excitement went south really fast, service was slow, food had zero authenticity or flavor. The owner (who is also Jordanian) overcharged us, when we asked him about the extra charge he shared surprisingly racist remarks about our Jordanian origin (we're Northeners and he's a Southerner Jordanian) explaining that "you Northerners are rich"!!!!!!!!!! We are ashamed he is claiming to represent Arabic food in Sevilla. We do not recommend, if you're a non Arab and expecting decent Arabic food, skip this place, if you're...
Read moreThere is not a single place in Seville centre area or Europe that offers hookah outdoor for €12. Amazing place, good vibe and reasonable prices. We got there a bit earlier before they open ,they let us sit outside and we had our hookah in less than 5 minutes. Probably one of the best hookah I have smoke, and I have been smoking hookahs for over a decay and in over 10 countries.
Amazing staff, amazing location, amazing prices and most importantly amazing hookah. DO NOT LEAVE SEVILLE BEFORE VISITING THIS PLACE.
I’m sad I was only in Seville for one day and I can’t visit this...
