I've been a frequent customer at La Tagliatella Restaurant for one main reason: the pizzas are absolutely fantastic. The flavors, ingredients, and crust are always on point, making it hard to stay away.
However, my enthusiasm for the food is often dampened by the staff's behavior. The service is far from friendly and borders on rude. The staff tend to talk quietly among themselves in Spanish, seemingly unaware that some customers, like myself, understand what they're saying. It's disheartening to hear their conversations, which are often less than professional.
One particularly frustrating incident occurred when I arrived and was asked to wait outside until my guests arrived. I was only waiting for two people, and the restaurant was empty. I asked them to repeat the request twice, thinking I must have misunderstood. They laughed among themselves, assuming I didn’t understand Spanish well enough. Little did they know that I did understand; I just couldn't believe what they were asking was possible because it was so ridiculous. I finally asked them to explain in English, as I couldn’t comprehend such a request in an empty restaurant. They did eventually allow me to sit while I waited for my friends and then apologized profusely, although it was the manager himself who initially asked me to wait outside. It seemed he apologized because my friend was Spanish, which is unacceptable behavior.
I always speak in Spanish as best I can and apologize if I don't understand something, so there was no excuse for their behavior.
While I understand upselling and know it is a common practice, the manner and way you do it counts and is often accepted if done with care and respect. However, the staff's blatant and rude winking at each other when they've managed to convince you to buy a bottle of wine instead of just a glass is incredibly off-putting. This upselling tactic, done with such obvious smugness, is unacceptable.
The ambiance also leaves much to be desired. The tables on the terrace are set with tablecloths that are stained and unironed. Additionally, the tables have nothing else on them, making the setting not very inviting. It’s a small detail, but it contributes to an overall experience that screams neglect and a lack of care for the client. It feels as though the restaurant doesn't give a hoot about its clients.
On a brighter note, the Vilanova location stands out with its excellent staff who smile and make you feel genuinely welcome. If only this level of service could be replicated across all their locations.
In summary, while the pizza keeps me coming back, the overall experience is marred by poor customer service and a lack of attention to detail. Manager, please do better! A little warmth, professionalism, and care for the dining environment could make a world...
Read moreDECEPCIONANTE. No...
Read moreGreat restaurant, wonderful menu (although not offered an English version to appreciate it fully), which I managed to navigate enough. Food is excellent, I was even snooping on others orders and all looked wonderful. I had the sea food risotto which really hit the mark. House wine was good. My only criticism would be that they need more staff. The current ones are working very hard to accommodate everyone. I only queued a few minutes. The head waiter was telling others after me, 10-15+ minutes wait until earlier tables cleared. It is worth the wait for the quality of food. An enjoyable experience. Thank you to all staff. And...
