On our first food visit here we were quite happy, dined in the back section with lovely sea views. Not a huge amount to choose from if vegetarian / vegan, but we had vegetable tempura to start and shared a rice dish for main, both pretty good. Service was also decent. However, the next time we stopped for an afternoon drink it took 15 minutes for anyone to come and take our order and then, after another 15 minutes of waiting the drinks still hadn't appeared. One of the staff that we know to speak to noticed, and said she would chase it up. Still nothing appeared, so we let her know to cancel the order and we left. If they were super busy then ok, but they weren't. Then another time, we had 3 friends visiting Sitges from the UK, it was their last day and they messaged us to say they had a table at Pic Nic. We went in to see them, I let the guy at the door know we were meeting friends and when we got to their table, initially the waiter was saying it was ok, they would bring one extra chair over. But then other staff chipped in and said no, it is not possible to have that many at the table. Only 5, not 6. At this point there is no option for discussion or accommodation, despite other diners offering to help, etc. So anyway, we had to leave our friends, who had unfortunately already ordered but we had a perfectly nice meal elsewhere. So, for us, no...
Read moreThere are meals you eat, and then there are meals you remember and this little beachside gem in Barcelona gave me the latter. With the sea breeze curling through the open terrace and the sun glinting off the water, it was the perfect setting for a culinary love letter to the city.
The tomato bread was unlike anything I’ve tasted before, simple yet unforgettable, each bite bursting with freshness and that unspoken magic only Barcelona seems to know. The clams were tender, briny, and kissed by the sea itself, and the beer… ice-cold, golden, and exactly what a beach afternoon calls for.
But what truly elevated the experience was the head waiter a host in the truest sense of the word. His warmth made the meal feel like a family gathering, and his thoughtful recommendations for places to visit added another layer of joy to the day.
This wasn’t just lunch; it was a moment stitched into my memory. A taste of Barcelona’s soul, salty air, warm smiles, and flavors you’ll still be thinking about long after the waves have faded from...
Read moreWe went here twice on different days. The first day we attempted to sit at the tapas area; no service. Then we went to the bar and asked if we could order tapas there; we were told no we have to go back to the front. We did, sat there for 10 min before giving up. Just a few steps away on the beach was a much cooler spot for a drink and a sandwich- would recommend that!
The second time we went was at night with a large group. We sat at different locations with 0 service. We asked the wait staff if we could place an order and were told “we don’t want to serve you”. So one of the people in our party went and got the owner of the place who told her he would take care of it; the wait staff begrudgingly took our drink orders. About 10 min after getting our drinks we were asked to leave because we had been standing up too long - we were never once asked to sit down. Just to leave. Didn’t even get half way through my drink.
This place is the worst, avoid it. Especially if...
