Good steak ruined by poor attitude
We ordered three entrecôtes — two were excellent, well-cooked and flavorful. Unfortunately, one was overly salted, to the point of being difficult to eat.
When we mentioned this politely, the chef herself came to the table — a thin woman with short gray hair and glasses — and instead of listening, she began speaking in a loud, angry, and demeaning tone, insisting her steaks were “the best in town.” It felt more like a scolding than a conversation.
We’ve had far better steaks elsewhere in Spain, and never experienced this level of hostility when offering honest feedback.
I’m not sure if she mistook us for “just tourists,” but considering that around 80% of Toledo’s residents depend on tourism, it’s surprising and disappointing to be treated this way — and frankly, no one deserves that kind of behavior, tourist or not.
The meal had promise, but the chef’s attitude completely soured the experience. Hospitality matters just as much as food — and in this case, both weren’t up to standard. We won’t...
Read moreWe were in Toledo for a day trip in May. After seeing the Toledo Cathedral, we stopped here to check out the menu for lunch around 1 pm. The friendly waitress saw that we were having trouble with the Spanish menu and gave us English menus. We were the first customers for lunch but the restaurant rapidly filled up.
My husband and I both ordered the menu of the day for €18. This includes 2 courses, bread, beverage, and a dessert. We both ordered a glass of red wine. For the first course, my husband ordered the Salmorejo (tomato soup) with minced egg and I ordered the ensalada de judias verdes alinaras (tuna salad with green beans). For the second course, we both ordered the Carcamusas Toledanas (a very flavorful pork stew, a specialty of Toledo). For dessert, we both ordered the brownie which was more like a chocolate cake. The food was delicious and the service was good, I highly recommend...
Read moreWe only had coffee (they have soy milk as well) and sweet buns/cake here on multiple occasions so not an in-depth review however the place is clean and waiter was nice. Few points my partner didn't enjoy: Carrot cake served wasn't very fresh Female toilet didn't have a lock Metal chairs are cold and quite uncomfortable after some time of sitting UPDATE AFTER RECEIVING OWNER'S RESPONSE Carrot cake wasn't fresh meaning possibly the ingredients were of low quality as the cake was chewy and sugary and didn't taste well Coldness of the chairs can be resolved with a pillow OR material chairs. No genius needed to figure that out. I would suggest the owner to listen to their clients rather than sarcastically responding to...
