Cafeteria Mediterraneo — Restaurant in Torrevieja

Myself and 3 other friends were on holiday in April and had been looking for somewhere nice to eat. We assumed that this restaurant would be great due to the good reviews; this was absolutely not the case! We were served a frozen pizza, not even cooked properly; a strange purple-grey 'burger'; and 2 very suspicious looking seafood paella's, which they even put crab claws in to bulk it out, and chicken that screamed food poisoning... On top of all this, when we tried to return it (after willingly offering to pay for the drinks and starter - 'patatas bravas', although they were frozen oven chips shaped like wedges with spicy ketchup slathered over the top - which we had eaten), our waiter (2 gold earrings, gold FC barcelona necklace, smoked like a chimney) said that he would take off the pizza and burger but insisted that we pay for the paella - which we had only had 3 mouthfuls of - because he personally thought that it is good. He printed off our receipt (still with the 2 paella dishes), slapped it down on the table and stormed off. This whole time I myself was speaking in Spanish, which is my second language, as he refused to speak in English; he persisted to stand over me, speaking very aggressively in a very demeaning manner. He threatened to call the police, despite this being what we consider basic customer service. In hindsight, wouldn't that have been a hilarious phone call... In the end - after about half an hour of relentless arguing - we spoke to another waiter (who seemed to agree that the police thing was ridiculous) and we ended up just paying for the drinks and our starter, after they both had said, multiple times, that if we didn't pay then they would have to... (blackmail?). I was very shaken up by this whole experience as I was struggling to keep up in Spanish, and he didn't seem phased by this in the slightest. Fortunately, we then went to Keeper Bar just down the road, and had absolutely fantastic service the entire night, and great food. Perhaps the waiters at your restaurant should take some tips from the lovely waiters at the Keeper. Our night would have been almost completely ruined, if it wasn't for the staff at Keeper. Absolutely appalling service! We decided to come here and ended up being served a discolored purple burger which would have definitely given me food poisoning if I had eaten it. My friend ended up with a raw frozen pizza and disgusting paella with a crab claw as the meat. When we tried to send the food back the waiter (wearing gold jewelry) refused. He was extremely rude and started arguing and raising his voice at us. He then slammed to bill on the table with the two paella still on it. He wanted us to pay €30 for something we didn’t and couldn’t possibly eat unless we wanted food poisoning. He threatened to call the police on us. I got very upset as the waiter was extremely rude and disrespectful. After over 30 mins of arguing we finally got to talk to the other waiter who eventually agreed to take the “food” back. Disgraceful...

Rachid was excellent! He remembered us from our visit 6 weeks ago! Rachid was friendly and he helped us find the best food for us to eat. We're vegan so we had the pizza with vegan cheese and veggies! It was pretty good but I like my pizza a little more crunchy! Last time we had veggie paella but it's no longer on the menu! I hope they can make it next time because we enjoy the place a lot! The drinks were also tasty!
