Gelateria Véneta — Restaurant in Valencia

We visited this ice cream shop because the sign said it had award winning gelato! The gelato is beautifully presented, but it is a very confusing setup/process to order your ice cream. Everyone crowds in front of the display, you go to the register to only pick out what size you want and pay, then fight your way back through the line to tell the people working what flavor you want. We stood there trying to get someone’s attention for almost 5 minutes. The people working were standing behind the counter, backs to the customers, chatting with each other. Once they finally did notice us, they were not very friendly in telling us we had to go pay first. We ordered 2 medium size cups. When we yelled over everyone what flavors we wanted, they put one scoop of each flavor into 1 cup. We assumed only one flavor would go into each cup. We tried explaining that’s not what we wanted, but she either couldn’t hear us or didn’t understand us. It was not a big deal, but to a toddler it’s kind of a big deal. The ice cream was just ok. We have eaten a lot of gelato and ice cream since we’ve been in Valencia, and this was mediocre. The interior of the place is the highlight. Beautifully decorated with hipster vibes. I come here more times a month and I always have a great ice cream. Today I got kinder bueno which was very bad. I went back to tell them and the tall black curly hair waitress said then Throw it away and buy a new one. (4€ ice cream btw) Very silly response and I was not saying anything bad just that this ice cream is not Kinder bueno. After I talked with the manager and she was nice. She changed me to another one which was great. I am a regular and I was polite the whole time. Everywhere the Kinder bueno ice cream is light brown but here it was white and absolutely tasteless. But luckily the manager knew what to do and managed the situation like a normal person. I had again a great ice cream like always. The other girl should think what she wants with her life because clearly not this career... I work in hospitality as well and I would never be this rude and ignorant. If I could rate it zero I definitely would! Service was non existent, we had to wait for our order for absolute ages to find out that the crepe with ham and cheese and coffee were missing from the order. Reported the issue straight away and it took them no lies more than 15 min to serve missing items while other part of the order was getting cold. Staff were more interested in chatting between themselves and eating sweets behind the bar rather than serve food quickly! There were some big questions re ability to make food too..
