La Casa Viva Ruzafa — Restaurant in Valencia

Cozy restaurant with nice range of creative, fresh, tasty veggie & vegan food! Don’t get fooled by the names - e.g. the ‚lasagna‘ or the ‚pizza‘ are far away from their name-giving ancestors - you rather get a modern, healthy and very tasty interpretation of the original dish. Prices are reasonable and service is very friendly and personal. They also veganize pretty much every vegetarian dish for you - just ask! The only problem I had is this: it’s called „sustainable eating“ - but the waitress (co-founder?) couldn’t explain to me what exactly this stands for. So give it a try - you won’t be let down. And maybe over time they’re also getting better at communicating what’s „sustainable“ about their place. I wish it was all organic & locally sourced…

This place was recommended in the latest Lonely Planet guide to Spain. Rather than ordering the usual tapas, we chose main courses because we were hungry. The lasagna had only one sheet of pasta and we were disappointed with the portion sizes for the other dishes we ordered. Apart from the truffle dish, the other food we ordered didn't come with unforgettable flavours. One reason we also chose this place was because the guide suggested this was one of the more economic places to go to eat (the single € symbol should have been tripled!). Update: tried new dishes and they did not disapoint! Everything was just amazing and the presentation was flawless. The staff was super friendly as always and did an amazing job at making sure every dietary restriction was clear when placing the order, they explained every dish with care and attention which is much appreciated. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the dishes!
