Restaurante Salsavana — Restaurant in Valencia

Wow! A true gem in Ruzafa. Very rarely do I encounter a 5-star experience in all 3 areas. The atmosphere is very welcoming, it feels like you're at a relative's house and the decor is colorful and cheerful. The service was equally as welcoming, there were 3 of us and one of the staff (I think she's owner/manager) was very invested in our dining experience. I felt like I was at my mom's house because she kept saying "eat, eat! Finish your food" in a sweet (non-pushy way). I had the ropa vieja with rice, beans and tostones. Everything was exquisitely tasty, fresh, and I gladly inhaled every bite. The food really is good, they don't skimp on flavor or amount of food. I definitely plan on visiting again, though it will be hard not to order the ropa vieja again, because...

We were expecting much more. I love Cuban food and in the US and Europe I've visited many Cuban restaurants. Some dishes - la ropa vieja and the ribs were good, but the Vaca frita was just an abomination. No taste not even salt. The frita part didn't exist. It was boiled very tough to chew and about 50 grams of meat with plain rice and a couple of slices of cucumber and salad. I was too disappointed to even take a photo. The service was good as soon as we got there which was before 9. We were apparently very lucky to get food because the table next to us came 10 minutes later and we ate and left while they still didn't have anything on their table. It was completely full and even the somewhat friendly atmosphere can't make up for the lack of enough...

When we walked into the establishment, we were greeted very warmly. Lovely authentic Cuban vibes inside and the place was very clean. All smiles around. We then sat and looked at the menu and there was a vast array of very delicious food to pick from. We were so spoilt for choice! La Flaca came and served us food she had recommended, and boy were we happy with the special selection she prepared for us for us.
