When in Spain, you must eat the food that the locals cook and enjoy. There is none better than Tinto Fino Ultramarino in Valencia when it comes to eating something delicious and authentic. The restaurant has a modern feel that makes you feel like you are part of the ‘it’ crowd. I went for lunch with a friend there and we both loved every bite. Try it yourself.
We went for the tapas option so just tucked into a rage of dishes. Thinking about the homemade meatballs in tomato sauce takes me right back there. They taste just like they should – full of flavour and in that deep tomato sauce that only the Spanish can get right. We also had the steamed baby squids which must have come right from the sea near the city. They just tasted so fresh and vibrant – just like everything else in the restaurant.
The same can be said of the steamed octopus. This was cooked to perfection and with a unique blend of spices just tasted like no octopus I have ever eaten before. You have to order this. Just to keep the seafood theme going we got the baked jumbo shrimp with mango and guanciale which tastes as good as it sounds. Shrimps can be a little underwhelming at times, but not his one!
As we were two hungry men, there was still room for dessert so we had to look at the chef’s fantasy dessert of chocolate salami. It sounded so intriguing that we just couldn’t pay a visit to Tinto Fino Ultramarino without tasting it. You will not be disappointed. It is absolutely amazing. We were also drawn by the homemade cheesecake with blackberry syrup, so if you have any room left this will finish off the meal in a perfect way.
I recommend Tinto Fino Ultramarino to anyone in or round Valencia. It is well...
Read moreMan this place is pretentious! We walked in at just after 7pm on a Tuesday night, the place was empty, not one table was taken. As we walked in a lady said to us "do you have a reservation?" No we did not. The lady then said "oh I'll see what I can do" The place was empty, what you could do is give us a table!
Anyway, we get a table and wait a good 10 minutes before anyone takes our order. The food is supposed to be a modern take on Spanish and Italian. When we were halfway through our salad a waitress says is everything ok and takes our salad! What if we hadn't finished! The patatas bravas was cooked fondant style and was as bland as an uncooked potato. The parmigiana was boring and one of the dishes we ordered didn't even reach the table and I'm pretty glad it didn't.
We leave around 45 minutes later and there still isn't anybody in the place! DO WE HAVE A...
Read moreA gem in Valencia! Tinto Fino Ultramarino is a truly special place. The atmosphere is warm and retro, with a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The food and wine were simply perfect — full of flavor and beautifully presented.
What really stood out, though, was the owner. A unique character with incredible positive energy — he left a lasting impression on us. We were especially touched when he offered a discount on the mixed platter. Although it was absolutely delicious, we couldn’t finish it as I’m vegetarian. That small gesture said a lot about the heart behind this place.
If you find yourself in Valencia, don’t miss the chance to visit. It’s a memorable experience...
