I have not eaten here so this review does not cover food. Only ambiance and cocktails.
The ambiance is exceptional. You're seaside off of Galle Face Green, a lovely grassy expanse caught between a bustling new Western-style luxury mall and the strong currents and briney air of the Laccadive Sea. At sunset, as the national flag is being lowered in the distance, it's hard to imagine a better place in Colombo to be. It's not very crowded before dark, but businessmen begin to shuffle in after work. After dark it gets considerably busier and while the surf is still audible the primary sounds are of live music, conversation and laughter. A little oasis of lights and music and people huddled joyously against the darkness beyond.
Staff were attentive if not overly friendly. Restrooms are located inside and were clean. There is limited indoor seating if you want aircon but really the best experience is going to be outside in the final moments of daylight. Sweat a little bit as you sip your drink. The sweat is OK.
The cocktails however, alas.
I had a variation on the whiskey sour made with the local liquor, Arrak. I also tried their daquiri. Both drinks were clearly made with mix rather than fresh fruit ingredients. The whiskey sour omitted the egg white froth (although it was detailed in the menu). The daquiri had a nice icy-slushy consistency but both drinks were seriousy marred by the chemical-y taste of store-bought mixer.
So go here for the view and the experience but maybe stick with beer (or try a different kind of cocktail that might be better). They also have a good spirits selection if you just want to sip it straight, although as with most of Southeast Asia tequila is poorly (or not at all)...
Read moreThis establishment is both a restaurant and a bar, offering a variety of food and drinks. However, it's worth noting that the prices here are on the higher side, and the seating area is quite small.
Each dish costs over 1500 rupees, including options for vegetarians.
Expect a wait time of 20 to 30 minutes for your food, so it's advisable to call and make a reservation in advance.
During my visit, I ordered the pork devil , Noodles and Nasi Goreng, followed by a fruit salad for dessert.
The pork devil, priced at around 1800 rupees, left me somewhat disappointed as it contained more potato and onion slices than pork.
The Nasi Goreng, at 1500 rupees, had a generous portion size but was overly salty for my taste.
On a positive note, the noodles were the standout dish, truly delicious and worth the 1450 rupees.
Dessert was a highlight; the fruit salad with ice cream was a delightful finish to the meal, although it did take an additional 15 minutes to prepare, costing 1300 rupees.
In total, my meal of pork devil, Nasi Goreng, Noodles and dessert came to 8000 rupees. Unfortunately, I only found the noodles to be truly enjoyable among the dishes. The other two didn't quite meet my expectations.

Read moreBreeze Barracuda in Colombo is one of the best spots to relax and enjoy a great meal with a beautiful ocean view. The restaurant has a calm and breezy atmosphere that truly matches its name. I loved the outdoor seating area — it’s perfect for evenings when the sun sets over the sea and the cool wind blows in from Galle Face. The ambiance is lively but still relaxing, with a mix of good music and friendly vibes. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, especially seafood, Sri Lankan favorites, and Asian-style meals. I tried the Hot Butter Cuttlefish and fried rice, and both were absolutely delicious — flavorful, crispy, and perfectly cooked. The portions are large, and everything was served hot and fresh. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. One of the best things about this place is the BYOB option, which is great for groups or couples who want to enjoy their own drinks. Prices are fair for the quality and location, and service time was reasonable even when it was busy. Overall, Breeze Barracuda is a wonderful restaurant for anyone who enjoys good food, great service, and a relaxing coastal atmosphere. Definitely worth...
