Visited Cafe 97 for dinner and had a mixed experience overall. The place itself has a cozy vibe and seems promising, but a few things fell short of expectations.

Carbonara Pasta 2/5 Unfortunately, this dish was quite disappointing. The white sauce was overly watery and lacked the creamy richness you’d expect from a good carbonara. Instead of crispy bacon, they used ham, which really changed the overall flavor and made it feel more like a basic cream pasta than an authentic carbonara. It was also slightly under-seasoned, leaving it tasting rather flat.

Grilled Chicken – 4/5: This was one of the better dishes of the night. The chicken was nicely grilled and had a decent amount of flavor. The portion was moderate, and the seasoning was balanced. It’s a safe option if you’re not looking for anything too fancy.

Fish and Chips – 3/5: The fish itself was fresh and well-cooked, crisp on the outside and tender inside. The fries were nicely done too, golden and crunchy. However, the tartar sauce was a bit of a letdown; it lacked tang and depth, which took away some of the enjoyment and the portion size was not what we expected for the price.

Loaded fries 4/5 Your go to thick cut fries with minced beef and bolognese sauce. Nice and decent both potion wise and taste wise.

Sea Bass 4/5 The sea bass was moist & soft though the portion size was quite small, especially considering the price. It left me wishing for a bit more substance on the plate.

Overall: Cafe 97 delivers an okay dining experience nothing particularly bad, but nothing that stood out either. The food quality ranges from average to good, but the portion sizes are on the smaller side. The service could definitely be more attentive; it felt like the staff weren’t very engaged.
