Changos Park View has always been one of my go-to places for delicious Chinese food in Colombo. I remember the old location it had a unique vibe, and more importantly, the food was absolutely amazing. The flavors were bold, rich, and truly satisfying. Every dish had a restaurant-quality feel, and you could tell a lot of care and technique went into the cooking. Whether it was the devilled crab, special fried rice, or chili chicken, everything tasted just right.
Recently, I visited their new location at 98 Fife Road, Colombo 00500, and honestly, I was a bit disappointed. While the service was friendly and the place looked decent, the food didn’t taste the same at all. It felt like something made at home not in a bad way, but it lacked the depth and restaurant-style flavor that made Changos special in the first place. The spice balance, presentation, and even the texture of the food were noticeably different.
I’m not sure if it’s a change in the kitchen staff or just a new direction they’re trying, but I really miss the taste and quality from the old days. Changos had a signature flavor that’s now missing. I hope the team takes this feedback positively and considers bringing back that classic touch that so many of us loved.
Still wishing them all the best — and hoping...
Read moreWent here for dinner with six of my friends, and honestly, Changos Park View is one of those lowkey spots that deserves way more love than it gets.
The food was genuinely amazing. We had a pretty big order, and even when we asked for an extra portion of one of the dishes, it didn’t take forever. Everything came out fast, hot, and full of flavor. That kind of speed with that kind of quality? Rare.
The place is clean, welcoming, and the vibe is chill. It’s just that not many people know it exists. No fancy lights, no aggressive marketing, no Instagrammable gimmicks. But the food does all the talking, and it speaks loud.
Let me just say this. I have no idea how they’re making a profit with those prices, especially with that pork belly. Easily one of the best I’ve had. You’re not finding pork that good for that price anywhere else.
It’s weird because the place is packed, but if you ask around, most people don’t even know it exists. One of those quiet but busy kind of spots. A hidden gem. Hope more people find out about it, but also kind of hope they don’t, just so the prices stay exactly...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer here for quite some time because the food is truly delicious. However, my recent experience was deeply disappointing and has made me rethink coming back.
I visited the restaurant around 8.00 p.m. with my 4-year-old son after a long playtime, hoping to enjoy a good meal. Unfortunately, despite placing our order promptly, we waited over 1.5 hours—and the food still hadn’t arrived by 9.30 p.m. During this time, my son, who was hungry and exhausted, had nothing but water. Watching a child become increasingly upset while staff showed no urgency or care was heartbreaking.
I understand good food takes time, but being a popular restaurant does not give you the right to treat your customers without basic respect. Communication was poor, and there seemed to be no priority given to families with small children or any consideration for wait times.
Food quality means nothing without proper service. I left without eating, not out of impatience, but because customer care must come first and this time, it clearly did not.
Really...
