Female solo travelers should avoid this hotel. Sexual harassment occurred by the property’s staff. I had to leave this hotel earlier than planned because I felt unsafe. One of the staff members tried to make physical contact with me and attempted to enter my room several times. That problematic staff member was very nice and friendly since I arrived at the hotel, but he soon crossed the line. At first, I thought his behavior was just a pure kindness as a hotel staff member. He said he wanted to take a selfie with me cos he’s sad I am leaving(Ridiculous! I stayed at that hotel only 1 night, there weren’t many interactions with him just a few as a hotel staff and a customer. ) and soon knocked on my room door to take selfies with him. He was drunk btw. I saw an alchole bottle and he smelled alcohole. He tried to get into my room, so I brought him to the public space(kitchen) because I felt uncomfortable. While taking selfies, he made unnecessary physical contact. He put his hands on my waist, shoulders, and face. I tried to avoid the situation then he started crying to buy my emphathy, saying he was sad because I was leaving, and he began sharing his personal stories(again, I was there less than 24hours! Most of the time I wasn’t in hotel room to explore the city). I tried to cut the conversation and get away from him/the situation. I told him that I needed to pack to go to the airport and needed to get back to my room. He knocked on my door again with tea and tried to get into my room. He touched my face, put his face next to mine, and tried to kiss my cheek. I said ‘No’ and left the room with my luggage. I called a taxi driver right away and had to leave ASAP. Even the taxi driver who came to pick me up noticed the strange situation and asked me a few questions. Please avoid this place. The room had mold on the walls, a very old AC unit, and bedsheets with a bad smell. The space looked different than it did online. Most importantly, for your safety, I recommend...
Read moreI stayed at this place during my recent trip to Colombo, and overall, it was a pleasant and practical experience, especially for solo travelers or those visiting the nearby sports clubs.
The location is absolutely fantastic — it’s just next to the Havelocks Sports Club and within walking distance from the Colombo Sports Club. This made it incredibly convenient for attending matches, training sessions, or simply exploring the area. You really can’t ask for a better spot if you’re involved in any sports-related activity in the city.
The setup feels more like a hostel, but in a very positive way. It has a casual, welcoming atmosphere, and is perfect for travelers who don’t mind shared spaces. The rooms are simple but comfortable, with everything you need for a good stay.
One thing to note is that some rooms have only shared bathrooms. That might be a drawback for some, but I was genuinely impressed with the cleanliness. The bathrooms were kept spotless, and I noticed that they seemed to clean them nearly every hour, which is far above average for shared accommodations. It definitely helped maintain hygiene and comfort throughout the stay.
A thoughtful touch is the presence of a small lobby area, which becomes a real blessing if your check-out is early or your flight/train is later in the day. You can relax, use Wi-Fi, or just sit back without needing to rush out, which I found very convenient and considerate.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for budget-friendly accommodation in central Colombo, especially close to sports clubs, this place is a great option. It’s simple, clean, and efficiently run, with just the right mix of convenience and comfort. Ideal for solo travelers, backpackers, or sports professionals...
Read moreSo, at this given time a 3.5 would be the preferred amount of stars. But sadly that’s not an amount we can give. But here’s why.
The guys running this thing, are very friendly and accommodating. The place looks nice, clean and the beds are comfy with a nice bathroom. The hot water doesn’t always work though (takes very long, so spill loads of water if you can’t shower cold) and the water pressure sometimes is very low. But that for us isn’t the main issue. The main issue is the noise.. The area is pretty quiet and safe at it self, but the bathroom has upper windows without glass. So all noise comes through. Second to that, is that the bathroom is ‘private’ but the ‘windows’ are shared with another bathroom. Therefor you can hear everything that’s going on, even in the bedroom. Which we think wasn’t nice at all.
But the guys have just started this place and mentioned that they are trying to fix these problems. When these things are fixed, it will be worth 5 stars, for sure. Just for now, we feel it was just 3.. as for the price we...
