Cucina by 3Brothers — Restaurant in Colombo

Dined here on Vday and expectations were high. They had a specially curated menu and plenty of tables filled with couples. I decided to order the couples special menu plus the lamb shank as an extra coz I can eat like that. 45 mins in and still nothing on the table. However didn’t even feel the time pass by as I was engaged in delightful conversation with my wife. Then the starter arrived and it was very nice. After that was over we waited patiently for the next course.

Another 45 mins later and now the only conversation was “where’s our food?!” I crossed over to sit next to my wife, and was facing the restaurant and then noticed the couple a table away from us on their third course! Mind you this couple were not even in the restaurant where we arrived. I also noticed something very strange as they seemed to have our dishes but only one of everything and the other seems to have been returned. It was quite obvious the waiter had been serving our food to this table and even when they had returned what wasn’t their order because it was ours he had not realized the issue. At first I was bemused, and finally got the waiters attention and asked his what happened to our food? After some running pointing and discussing with his coworker he came and said they had messed up the table and it’s not his fault because he didn’t take the order (the nerve!). Mind you there were only two staff to serve so many people. Another 30 mins later and they waiter appears with a dish that isn’t ours. Looks non plussed when we say no and disappears. By now couples who had arrived after us were paying their bills and leaving. And the other tables seemed to be getting their remaining orders. Finally a good two hours in our third course appears (beef lasagna), totally missing out our second course of the pastas. To which when I inquired where they were, the waiter said they are being done. In the meantime the other waiter shows up with another set of starters! (Utter chaos) By now I had pretty much had enough of their incompetency, didn’t touch my lasagna, and was totally not in the mood to enjoy any more food. Called the waiter, cancelled everything remaining, paid for what I had eaten and What’s ans severed but untouched and then walked out. People’s say the food is amazing and I’m sure it could be. The advertising for this place on Instagram lead me to try this place and I absolutely had high expectations about food as the place looked decent and me being an Italian food lover of course. But was thoroughly disappointed with the food and staff's and the OWNER'S behaviour even after lodging a complain. Ordered a mushroom homemade pasta option in white sauce (Cannot really recall the name in the menu) and before ordering that I clearly asked not to add a certain mushroom as I'm allergic to that. The waiter swore the musroom would be "normal" mushroom and heaven knows what "normal" mushroom is. When I asked if it's Oyster or Button he said yes not knowing exactly what is the ingredient which goes into their dish. I've had better experience in so many smaller cafes and restaurants than this. They knew what they were doing atleast. And on top of that the waiter brought me a pasta with the same mushroom I said not to add thrice when ordering. How negligence can they be?? Then when I returned the dish they brought me the same plate but this time shredding the same mushroom. If they didn't have any other musroom in the kitchen simply they would've informed so I would order something else and I would peacefully go home without having to have major allergy reactions and without having to find doctors at 3.00 am whom can treat my severe allergy reactions. When I complained the restaurant manager and the owner all they had to offer was a sorry and the excuse was that "they didn't know". Why would you be a manager or an owner if you don't know what's going on in your business?? It's been a month now since this incident happened and still I've got no refund or nothing for my great inconvinience. They're lucky this is Sri Lanka or else fellows would be sued for life!! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cucina , and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the ambiance and overall vibe of the place.
