A relatively small restaurant on the 1st floor of the MaRadha Hotel. It's a cozy space with a good view of the sea and it offers an affordable buffet that, although being a much smaller spread than what most popular hotels offer, still turned out being flavourful, tasty and satisfying. I had the Christmas 2023 lunch buffet on my first visit here, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy, just familiar dishes, but cooked well and tasty. The staff were attentive to a certain extent, but they could use a bit more training. It took longer than I would like to get their attention and to get some water, and they kept constantly asking me if I was done eating so as to clear the table, even though there was still food on the plate and I was still eating, which was annoying after a while. The managers were polite and attentive, but the wait staff need more training I feel. I guess I can't complain much about that considering the price. I was concerned to see that the staff didn't change the table mats after guests leave, they just tapped off the bits of food onto the floor, dusted the matsQ, and put them back on the table. Yikes! Regardless, I look forward to visiting this restaurant again, with the hope of leaving with a happy, full belly and a not-so-light wallet, just...
Read moreThis restaurant has a lot going for it: friendly staff, good atmosphere, cleanliness, and a nice view.
The food was unfortunately not that great.
The tomato cappuccino was barely enjoyable. There was barely any milk foam in it and the taste was too salty and not satisfying.
The chef's special grilled fish was either not fresh or not freshly made or both - very dry and chewy (ironic when you can see the ocean out the window).
The passion fruit curd was low quality. It seemed like it was bought from some cheap pastry shop, not prepared in-house.
Maybe the experience is better in the evening since it was empty at lunch time.
My girlfriend had prawns curry and she enjoyed it, so it's not all bad. But I had 3 dishes and didn't like any of them, hence my low rating.
I had high expectations because of the high rating, but the food was mediocre at best in...
Read moreVisited the restaurant twice, once for dinner, for their pittu month, and once for lunch with friends. Both times the meals were fantastic. Their pittu was the softest, fluffiest, yet tightly packed cylinders that I've ever had. The chicken, prawn and crab curries were excellent, and so was their unique katta sambal. For lunch, their nasi goreng and biriyanis were very flavorful, and once again tightly packed. It's just that their desserts don't hold up against the rest of it, So I would suggest going somewhere else for that. Their service was good on the first day, but not that great the second time. They did not inform us that they had run out of bacon and substituted it with fakon (chicken bacon) in the spaghetti until we asked them about it once the...
