Iâve now been to Shoulders for the 3rd time since they opened, for 2 dinners and 1 lunch and each time has surpassed the last đ€©
The atmosphere is amazing from the beautiful, rustic and minimalistic decor that really makes you feel like youâve just entered a very elite speak easy, only to be greeted by with the warmest smiles that make you feel right at home! We saw couples, families and friends who had all found a nook at âshouldersâ to get comfortable in all at the same time!
The cocktails and drinks are inspired and SO tasty, and so affordable, just a couple in and youâre on the nicest buzz!
Coming to the show stopper - the food! âFinesseâ is the appropriate word. A carefully curated, locally sourced, amazing fusion of the unlikely cuisines of Greek and Sri Lankan - perfectly fused together by the incredible Shehan Setunge, affectionately know as âJuppeâ the star behind âShouldersâ jaw dropping menu.
Each dish we tried was faultless, beautifully presented, explained and left to be devoured. We couldnât decide which dish we loved the most because they were all different and just such a testament to how local products can be used to create something magical!
A few highlights were the 12 hour slow roasted lamb shoulder, spit roasted porketta, flaming saganaki cheese, taramasalata (whipped cod roe dip) lingus scotch egg đ„ and ofcourse not forgetting the decadent yet light desserts - spiced cashed cake with vanilla cream and rice pudding with cardamom butterscotch and coconut biscuit crumb (Chefâs Kiss - to all of it)
âShouldersâ is also open for lunch now, serving up some MEAN Souvlakis đ€€ your choice of prawns, chicken, pork belly, mutton wrapped in warm, yet crispy flat bread that just melts in your mouth! - a MUST TRY!
A big congratulations to the management on making such an amazingly unique dining experience accessible to more people with their extremely competitive pricing and absolute value for money đ
Canât wait to be back to try everything else...

So I asked if there was any chance of ordering something from the dinner menu. A waiter came and said we could, and brought 2 dinner menus. He also said the signature dish was lamb shoulder for Rs. 9,000 before taxes. I said I wanted the Moussaka at Rs. 5,000 before taxes and ordered the octopus as a starter for my wife. Then the waiter came and said they can only serve chicken.
I said you should have told us that before, without wasting our time. Then another person came and told me we cannot treat customers differently and when I told him they should not have wasted our time, and said I would tell the owner, he said he is a partner, and told the security to open the door and asked me and my wife to leave the restaurant.
I believe the person who showed my wife and myself the door, was Shehan Setunga.
Congratulations to the partner of Shoulders for treating guests badly, particularly in the current situation where establishments are fighting for customers. Extremely intelligent behavior! Particularly when it was no fault of the customer.
@Harpo - This is Priya Dharmarajah. All I said is that they should have told us we could not have what we wanted and we would have left the restaurant, instead of bringing us the dinner menus, and asking us to choose. And because I talked about my time being wasted, your partner threw me and my wife out of the...

There was plenty of seating available during my last visit, granted, it was a Sunday night. Shoulders has some of the best cocktails i have ever had. they have classics like Margaritas and Bloody Marys , but their signature range has a whole list of super creative cocktails with flavor and flair! I intend to try them all at some point. The bartenders are very proud of their work too and every cocktail i have ever been served has been made with care and attention to detail. Their food menu is simple, easy to navigate, and delicious! One of my all time favorites would be the Taramasalata, which they make to perfection, served with a warm fluffy and crispy pita bread. For mains my favorite so far has been the Moussaka. Rich minced beef layered in with sliced roast eggplant topped with cheese and baked to perfection. This entree easily serves 2 and is the perfect comfort dish packed with flavour.
The attentive staff makes the whole experience that much more elevated. Definitely a place worth a visit and they will have my...
