A Disappointing Experience at The Mango Tree My recent visit to The Mango Tree was filled with disappointment and frustration, as the restaurant made multiple mistakes. Here's a breakdown of the issues I encountered:
Hidden Charges and Lack of Transparency:- The first letdown was the restaurant's practice of collecting a service charge and an undisclosed government tax. While I understand that service charges are common in some places, customers have the right to know about these additional costs upfront. The fact that the government tax was buried in tiny text at the bottom of the menu is inexcusable. Such practices feel like an attempt to deceive patrons and take advantage of their lack of awareness about the charges.
Suggestion:- The Mango Tree should clearly display all charges, including government taxes, on the menu in a prominent and easily visible manner. This way, customers can make informed decisions about their expenses before placing an order. False Promises :- when inquiring about the possibility of using the "koko" payment option, the staff assured us that they did accept it. However, at the end of the meal, they told us that their koko account was locked, and they couldn't process the payment as promised.
Suggestion:- It is imperative that the restaurant ensures the availability and functionality of payment options they promote. If a particular payment method is temporarily unavailable, customers must be informed beforehand to avoid any inconveniences or surprises during checkout. The combination of these two mistakes made for a highly unpleasant experience at The Mango Tree. As a customer, I expect honesty, transparency, and reliability from any establishment, especially when it comes to financial matters.
I urge The Mango Tree's management to take immediate action to correct these issues and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. By being transparent about charges, displaying them clearly, and ensuring that advertised payment options are functional, the restaurant can rebuild trust and provide a better dining experience for its patrons.
Until these necessary changes are implemented, I cannot recommend The Mango Tree to others, and I will think twice before considering another visit. As a customer, I hope that my feedback will be taken seriously and lead to positive changes in the...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed with the pathetic experience we had at Mango Tree in Colombo. As regular customers who spent over 40,000 LKR for a special celebration today this is what I got.
Misleading Room Reservation: I booked a private room well in advance for my mother’s 70th birthday celebration. The day before, they confirmed the booking over the phone. Yet upon arrival, I was informed we couldn't have the room due to sweets being kept there for an event. This felt deliberately misleading, as my booking had already been secured days in advance.
Subpar Service: Without the room, we were seated elsewhere, but the service was poor. Food was simply placed on the table without being served, and only after I asked if they had stopped service did the staff begin attending to the guests.
Basic Needs Overlooked: Water wasn’t served unless explicitly requested, which added to our disappointment.
This experience ruined what should have been a special day. To anyone reading, be cautious when planning...
Read moreThe food tastes amazing BUT I would not recommend going to eat here unless you want to put a hefty amout of money on the table.
We ordered a biriyani, chicken tikka, half a chicken, raita, 2 naans, rasamalai and kulfi and the bill came up to a shocking LKR 18,000.00 odd amount. Not to forget that this was only for 2 people. Soon afterwards 4 people including myself went to eat at Beverly Cafe and then Flower Drum on two seperate days; ordered a way larger amount of food items with a couple of meat items and the total bill only came up to LKR 11,000.00 and LKR 9,000.00 respectively. Thus, Mango Tree is clearly overpriced and will not ever plan on going there again. Also paying that much of a hefty amount is not worth it at all because you can get the same food items from plenty other places for a...
