I was looking for a genuine massage place in Colombo and I went here after reading the Google reviews. I’m glad I did. This is no frills Massage Centre, it’s NOT a Spa. There is no music, no aroma candles, no mood lighting, just massage…real therapy massage. There are no cubicles or partitions but the massage is given with your clothes on and no oil is used. So there is no need to shower or change; casual, light, non slippery cotton clothes are ideal(thin t shirt and track pants). The masseurs are vision impaired (blind) so their sense of touch is heightened and that adds to your experience. The pressure was hard (as requested) and it was a pleasurable pain to endure. He pressed points that made me realize that he knew exactly what he was doing. I had signed up for a 30 minute session, and 5 minutes into the massage I told him that he could continue for 1 hour without even asking him the price. For anyone who wants a genuine massage, go for it ‘blindly’ 😎
Even if you don’t enjoy it like I did, it’s for a good cause, so why not give it a try??!!??
May 2024 - I’ve been here a few more times now and my review stands. Simply the best massage.
September 2024 DOWNGRADE- All good things come to an end, and my journey with Thusare has thus ended. I liked the place, with its old world charm of non air conditioned hardcore massages, but now sadly it has partitioning, air conditioning, increased prices and decreased value for money. I was there in August when I got a poor massage but I ignored it as a one off thing. However, last week, again I had the same poor experience. So much so, that with a very heavy heart, I decided to end my massage halfway. I highlighted this to the management and they were more than receptive and the Japanese lady incharge even offer to continue my massage personally, but for me it was over. They refused to accept payment and after I INSISTED, they accepted a token amount of Rs. 1000 with a lot of apologies. I wish them all the best for the future but I will not be going again. Thank you for the good times. Rated down...

My visit to Thusare Talking Hands was unfortunately a very unpleasant experience. I wasn‘t even going to write a review, but then I had to. This was supposed to be a special day for us, in the end we came out with very sad hearts.
First, the positive: the studio is very clean and the Sir that welcomed us was very kind. It is not loud and the music in the chamber was very relaxing.
Now our actual experience: me and my friend booked a two-hour full-body massage together in one room with two masseurs.
During the massage, the therapist was talking almost the entire time with his other colleague and repeatedly interrupted the treatment – sometimes for up to a minute – just to continue his conversation instead of focusing on the massage.
What was especially disrespectful was that they used degrading and humiliating words to describe our bodies, thinking were only german tourists who didn‘t understand a word they said.
When they realized that my friend understands Tamil, they apologized – but things got even worse: in the end, they went so far as to make jokes in Sinhala about our “third leg.” Unfortunately for them, we understood that too.
At first, I didn’t even want to leave a review and just hoped this humiliating experience would serve as a lesson to them, after they discovered that virtually any customer can understand what is being said. But such a lack of respect and professionalism makes it impossible to stay silent.
There was absolutely no sense of respect, professionalism, or dignified treatment here – no matter how many times they kept calling us “Sir.”

Read moreMy visit to this massage studio was unfortunately a thoroughly negative experience. Shortly after the treatment began, my assigned masseur and a colleague mocked and insulted me in a language I am familiar with (Tamil), assuming I would not understand them. Among other things, they said that “with a body like mine I would have to scream at least once during the massage” and that if I didn’t, they would “grab my private parts as hard as possible to make me scream.” They also repeatedly ridiculed my body, stating they “couldn’t understand how it even functioned because I was too fat.” On top of that, they made fun of my friend who accompanied me, calling him a “toothpick” and questioning why they always received “clients like me.”
When I later clarified that I do, in fact, understand Tamil, they initially apologized and claimed it had “just been a joke.” Unfortunately, the offensive remarks did not stop. Instead, they continued to openly make disrespectful comments directly to me, mocking my body, my friend’s hair, and other personal features.
The massage itself was very painful and although I was repeatedly asked if the pressure was acceptable, I was unable to relax at any point due to the constant disrespect and humiliation. Instead of feeling comfortable and rejuvenated, I left the studio feeling demeaned, disrespected and very uncomfortable.
Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable in a professional environment. Due to the extreme lack of respect, discriminatory comments and absence of professionalism, I can only strongly advise against visiting...
