Dutch Cafe شربنا قهوه ١٢/٦/٢٠٢٥ — Restaurant in Galle

Strangely enough, my entire Galle trip had one sole purpose—finding a luxury little café or boutique spot inside Galle Fort for a perfect solo lunch or dinner. I even saved up 5000, knowing that food inside the fort is pricey since they mainly cater to foreigners.

I decided to go at night, strolling through the charming streets in search of the perfect solo date spot. I wanted a fine dining experience but wasn’t about to drop 20,000 on a tiny appetizer—I just wanted to relax and enjoy myself.

I actually stopped by the place next to this one first, but the vibe was off. The owner’s tone (or maybe their choice of words) didn’t sit right with me. Now, I’m not a Karen, but if you speak to me nicely, I’ll listen.

Then, I found this place—and it was absolutely wonderful.

Food & Price ✅ Super reasonable—way better than I expected! ✅ It’s a café, but I had dinner there, and it worked perfectly. ✅ I ordered a chicken sandwich, French fries, and a strawberry banana milkshake.

Oh, and the sandwich? PEAK. 🔥 They should’ve told me it already came with fries, though—because I ended up with way too many fries after ordering an extra plate. But hey, no regrets.

Service Here’s the catch—I waited In the cafe for two hours and no one bother to tell me anything I was enjoying my life because those people were realy kind. I also wanted more sugar in my milkshake, and they provided me with sugar syrup, which was a nice touch.

The best atmosphere I've ever seen in a café. Sea breeze plus evening vibe is making things more elegant. The place is vast. You can dine in inside the café or out side. I prefer out side is more romantic. Prices are average. I had an avocado juice and my wife had a cappuccino. Delicious taste made our day more sweet. The place has great vibrant. The evening is the best time to have a chat sitting there looking at the sea breeze. Plenty of space inside but only two ✌ tables available out side. Historical building with the VOC logo. Felt dreamy sitting inside, can just imagine what people were talking about 400 years ago in the same spot I was sitting.

It's too bad the resto doesnt serve Dutch food. Closest thing was patat, but when I ordered a side of mayo, it didnt taste good at all. Would've loved to see bitterballen, frikandellen, kroketjes, broodje kaas and souffles.

Instead, had the avocado toast, beef burger, chicken wrap, and mixed green salad with avocado smoothies.

It wasn't.... great.
