Locals, STAY AWAY from this horrible place!
My friend and I went for dinner and asked if we could have a table on the balcony. The reception staff told us to wait a few minutes, so we ordered a drink and waited downstairs. Then we were told a table for two was ready for us upstairs, so we sat down. But a little later, a waiter came over with two Caucasian guests behind him, looking around the place. He seemed unsure at first if we were locals, but once he realized, he rudely demanded to know why we were sitting there, asking who told us we could sit down at that table. We explained that we were directed there by the staff, but he kept insisting the table was reserved (there was no reserved sign on the table) and forced us to stand up and leave so those two Caucasians could sit. It was so messed up!
We were frustrated and went down to the cashier to settle the bill, and the guy who showed us the table was suddenly trying to calm us down, even arguing with the rude waiter in Tamil, why he wouldn’t let us sit there. He kept asking us to wait a bit longer for another balcony table, but by then, we were so done. We had to practically demand the bill because they wouldn’t even let us leave at this point!
Did you really forget how you relied on locals during COVID? Now you’re pushing the locals aside?? Disgusting! This is the first time I’ve had such a horrible experience and it’s so disappointing when it’s from our own people! Thankfully, we found The Bungalow Galle Fort afterward, where we were the only locals and got amazing service!! Honestly, I’m glad we didn’t stay for dinner at your good for nothing place. Learn to respect all your customers! You don’t deserve even one star for your...
Read moreMy friends and I visited Indian Hut in Galle Fort for lunch, and it turned out to be an appalling experience. Despite being seated for over 20 minutes, none of the waiters made an effort to take our order. Instead, they blatantly prioritised tourists who arrived long after us. We watched in disbelief as they rushed to greet the tourists, pulled out their chairs, and promptly took their orders while ignoring us completely.
I personally asked three different waiters to take our order, but each one gave a flimsy excuse about being “busy” with other tables. Yet they somehow found time to cater attentively to every tourist who walked in. The preferential treatment towards tourists was undeniable and downright insulting. It felt as though our presence didn’t matter simply because we were locals.
When we finally complained to the manager, he showed no interest whatsoever and didn’t even attempt to address the situation. His dismissive attitude only made the experience worse and cemented our decision to leave without ordering.
The food I saw being served at a neighbouring table looked utterly unappetising. Just some coloured rice with a egg or a piece of chicken. It was far from worth the price or the time wasted. Looking back, we are actually glad we didn’t order anything as we were relieved not to have spent our money on that subpar food.
I strongly recommend avoiding this place and instead visiting "DIYATHRA SEASCAPE" (4.6 km away), where you’ll find delicious food, generous portions, and proper customer service. Don’t waste your time or money on Indian Hut—it’s simply not worth it. Take the time to travel to Diyathra Seascape to eat, it's...

Upon entering, I was greeted by an extensive menu boasting a tantalizing array of Indian delicacies. However, it seemed that the focus leaned more towards the non-vegetarian options, leaving herbivores like me with a somewhat limited selection.
The flavors and taste of the dishes were satisfactory, yet not exceptional. The rice-based offerings managed to hit the right spot, although the roti-based items were a tad elusive, only making an appearance after 4.30 in the evening.
One aspect that left room for improvement was the staff's hospitality. While the potential for providing top-notch service was evident, a bit more courtesy and hospitality training could elevate the overall dining experience.
Stepping into the realm of aesthetics, the decor of Indian Hut could certainly benefit from a significant facelift. A refreshing update to the ambiance would undoubtedly enhance the dining atmosphere, making it even more inviting for patrons.
Now, let's talk about the highlight of the place – the rooftop seating with a mesmerizing view of the sea. This charming feature undeniably sets Indian Hut apart and provides a unique selling point that's hard to ignore.
In conclusion, my visit to Indian Hut Restaurant in Galle Fort was an average experience, with flavors that satisfied my taste buds but didn't quite leave me craving for more. While the food held its ground, areas like staff training and decor could use a touch of refinement. If you're a fan of Non Vegetarian Indian cuisine and seek a picturesque sea-view dining spot, this could...
