Perfect Dining Experience at Maru Restaurant - A Must Visit in Galle Fort I recently had the pleasure of visiting Maru Restaurant in Galle Fort with two of my friends, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! Nestled just a short stroll from the iconic Galle Fort Lighthouse, Maru offers the perfect setting for a relaxing meal after exploring the historic town. Food (5/5): The food at Maru is simply divine. Each dish we ordered was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The menu offers a wonderful selection, catering to all tastes, and we were particularly impressed with how fresh and well-balanced everything was. Whether you're a fan of seafood, traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, or something a bit more international, you're in for a treat. Every bite was delicious, leaving us eager to try even more dishes on our next visit! Service (5/5): The service at Maru is truly top-notch. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who were attentive and friendly throughout our entire meal. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations based on our preferences. We never felt rushed, yet everything was served promptly, with genuine smiles and professionalism. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority here. Ambience & Interior Design (5/5): The interior of Maru is a perfect blend of modern elegance and calm serenity. The design is tasteful, with subtle touches that reflect the charm of Galle Fort's historic surroundings. We were instantly taken by the calm and relaxing atmosphere, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're sitting indoors or at one of the outdoor tables, the ambiance is perfectly suited for a laid-back meal with friends or family. Value for Money (5/5): Given the quality of the food, the excellent service, and the beautiful setting, Maru offers incredible value for money. The portions are generous, and we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable the meal was, especially for a restaurant located in such a prime spot within the fort. Every penny felt well spent. Location (5/5): The location of Maru is ideal, just a stone's throw away from the Galle Fort Lighthouse. It’s perfect for those looking to enjoy a delicious meal after a day of sightseeing in the fort. The restaurant's central position makes it easily accessible, yet it feels wonderfully peaceful and removed from the busier streets. Overall, our visit to Maru Restaurant was nothing short of perfect. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Galle Fort, this restaurant is a must-visit. Great food, impeccable service, and a lovely atmosphere all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Ah, fellow parched wanderers, heed my call as I regale you with a tale of serendipitous discovery! For it was upon the hallowed cobbles of Galle Fort that we stumbled into a sanctum of liquid nirvana: MARU restaurant. Like weary desert nomads in search of an oasis, we ambled in, parched and yearning for libations to quench our thirst. The gods of hospitality must have heard our silent prayers, for what we found was nothing short of ambrosia. Eyes wide, we beheld the elixirs before us: a tantalizing passion fruit potion, effervescent with zesty lime, and a celestial strawberry concoction, both artfully crafted to transport our taste buds to a realm of euphoric bliss. One sip, and we were transcended to a higher plane of refreshment. But, dear friends, MARU's divine gifts don't end with divine drinks. For we have heard whispers of legendary bowls, brimming with sustenance fit for the gods themselves. Our souls now yearn for a return to this hallowed haven, where we shall partake in the epicurean delights that await. So, join us, fellow wanderers, in our pilgrimage to MARU, where the siren song of their ambrosial libations beckons like a lighthouse in the storm. 🍹✨🍓

Best vegetarian meal without allium (no onion, no garlic) so far in Sri Lanka! Restaurant is strategically located on the main road, near the lighthouse. The gentleman staff was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Best of all, he’s not pushy and trying to get you to order the most expensive thing on the menu - which I appreciate. I got the Eggplant Teriyaki bowl in large size with half sushi rice and half cauliflower rice base. It was delicious. Fresh and a welcome break from fried rice and fried noodles!! As of Oct 2023, the dish costs 1850 LKR, definitely on the pricier side (compared to local food outside the Fort). But whilst travelling in Sri Lanka, I’ve been charge the same for much inferior food and taste. It was a hot day so I complement my meal with king coconut at LKR 350. Jain, vegetarian and vegan folks, look no further. I recommend that you give this place a try.

I came and went for a quick snack. I just had the poke nachos (appetizer), passion-juice, and ice water. Poke was fine. The chips of the nachos were not crunchy, unfortunately. The humidity in the climate here may make keeping them from moisture, difficult, when the chips are premade and stored until served. Honestly, I’m glad they were premade, cause I just wanted a quick in and out. The juice tasted great, but it wasn’t pure passion fruit juice. Like most places around here, they use some juice, and then add sugar water. They add the 10% service charge too. The service was actually quite good, and probably the best part. Not a lot for $9.60, but it’s Galle Fort, so I expect this.

Visited Maru for the very first time over the weekend. We were on the lookout for healthy lunch options in Halle fort and we came across this. The menu was fabulous with so many choices 😍 As we were on a calorie cut, we needed very specific amounts of rice in our dish and the staff was very happy to help us and accommodate as per our need. The food came in quite quickly and the food was very tasteful as well. We got the chicken katsu dish and a build your own bowl dish. We also got a king coconut water which was really refreshing in that hot scorching weather in galle fort. Definitely recommend this place!

Beautiful food, great service and priced very reasonable. All resturant owners should probably go eat from here and understand the astronomical difference. The flavours in each dish are so well thought of. Each dish has its unique quality to them. The menu is not overbearing and the price feels like you're scamming them (!) (which is unique in Sri Lanka!!). Try the tacos and tell me there's a better restaurant in Sri Lanka. The service here makes you want to keep going back for more and more. Totally recommend, no matter your price range you'll find something that you'll love.
