I ate here twice when I was in Galle. Both times I found the tofu dishes to be too salty. The first time I went there I asked the waitress if certain dishes contain meat as I'm vegetarian. She pointed to the tofu dishes and some vegetable dishes and said "these don't have meat". The second time I went there I ordered Mapo Tofu, which was one of the dishes that don't have meat that the waitress mentioned last time. But it came with beef mince. I pointed it out to the waitress. She said oh if you told us you were vegetarian we could have done it without meat. I said but last time you said this dish doesn't have meat anyway. She said she doesn't remember I'm vegetarian and that I had to request no meat. I said that the information you provide for the customers should be consistent. As I didn't have time to wait for them to make another one, I ate the tofu and left the mince. When I was about to pay for the meal, the chef was at the cashier. I asked him "does Mapo Tofu usually have meat in it or not?" He said "sometimes". Again I emphasized that the production should be consistent. You can't make it with meat on Monday and without meat on Tuesday. I don't know if they understood as they probably don't speak very good English. It's a shame that my experience wasn't very good at this restaurant. Maybe to avoid the confusion in the future the menu should state what is included in the dish to inform customers with dietary requirements or allergies, or the waitress should give out consistent information so as not to...
Read moreWe stopped by Galle Fort Café and tried a bit of everything—and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. The crystal flower dumplings definitely stole the show visually; they were almost too pretty to eat. Texture-wise, they were a bit on the doughy side and could’ve used more seasoning. But once you dip them in the soy sauce and that ridiculously tasty chilli oil, they come alive. Easily the highlight of the meal thanks to those condiments. The chicken dumplings were okay—nothing too memorable. The chilli chicken noodles though? Really good. Great flavor, satisfying spice, and definitely something I’d order again. Drinks were on point too. The passionfruit juice was refreshing, and the bubble tea was smooth and...
Read moreVery oddly average restaurant located within the Galle Fort. There's Chinese music playing, and free wifi available. The chicken wonton was nice and the ravioli was also tasty. My five spice braised beef was my favorite dish. It wasn't served warm for some odd reason, it might be how it's supposed to be served 🤷. Also tried some sort of beef noodles, which I wasn't a big fan of (I'm not a noodles fan, regardless) the Kung Pao Chicken was tasty. I had the pineapple juice and this was fantastic, it had little to no sugar and had preserved the authentic taste of the fruit. The fried milk thing of the deserts category is not recommend at all. Overall mediocre experience, they also add a service charge to the...
