I honestly feel really bad for writing a review like this but they left us with no choice. We came here for the reviews plus the place looked very nice to have some cake and coffee. Ordered an iced mocha, passion fruit juice, tiramisu piece and a caramel cheesecake. As we were waiting we felt like the cakes weren't worth it and asked if they can remove them from the order as it took a long time to serve too. The manager told us once they punched in the system they can't change anything even if we haven't paid for anything. Then we decided to have them anyway. The cakes were from the display cabinet that was already cut in pieces. Maybe it's some reason that I don't see but voiding a bill is impossible apparently in this place. They do a great job with the presentation of each drink and food item. However, when tasting things we knew we were right. The tiramisu isn't what we had tasted before. Felt like whipped cream between sponge cakes. Isn't that gatuax. The cheesecake is so thick and hard it was like eating a block of cheddar cheese. Mocha was also not up to standards. Then again that maybe how it's made. Other food should be better as most reviews claim. But It begs the question have these people ever eaten at a better place. Fortunately the manager asked if there was a problem with the cakes as we didn't finish them and had a discussion. So he didn't take money for our cakes. Once I gave my card for payment he said it's not working and my second card also was rejected. I checked balances of both cards and they clearly had more than enough money at the end we had to pay with cash. I asked him several times to pay for the cakes even though they were bad we tried them. When we were about to leave he asked if we want two more cake pieces to take away. We said no and said we wouldn't want to eat that. What were you thinking? Faking all this to get free cake? My stomach is upset lol. I understand the prices for anything inside Galle fort is really high because of the tourists, rents, taxes what not. We're all going through these. But I really felt I just threw some money away. So if you don't want to loose an arm and a leg don't even think of having anything in here. Better yet if you aren't a foreigner that can spend a fortune don't have anything from anywhere inside fort. This review wouldn't exist if the order was cancelled for the cakes. I'm really sorry but not...

Read moreDuring my visit to Kixi Fort Galle Cafe, I had high expectations based on previous reviews, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. Upon arrival, the café was hosting a marketing photo shoot, with the photographer occupying several tables. This seemed to divert the staff's attention, as they prioritized the shoot over attending to customers. Consequently, every dish I ordered was first presented for photographs, resulting in my meals arriving lukewarm to cold.
I initially ordered the smashed avocado toast with eggs but was informed they had run out of avocado. However, I later saw the same dish being prepared for the photographer, which was disappointing. On a last minute decision with the waiter standing by, I went with the waffle big breakfast instead, but it didn’t land. The scrambled eggs were questionable - possibly powdered - and the waffles were cold with no butter, syrup, or anything to go with them. Tinned beans and bland sides didn’t help either. The mushrooms were the only thing that had flavour, but they weren’t enough to save the meal.
The coffee, however, was excellent - easily one of the best I’d had in Sri Lanka, and it was the first time I’d been served real milk instead of long-life. That said, the 20-minute wait took away from the win a bit.
Customer service and cold, uninspired food were the real letdowns here. The coffee saved the rating from being any lower.
