Out of the many restaurants in Galle Fort the one place we keep going back to is The Arch on Cross Street ,one of the best kept secrets in Galle Fort! The restaurant is located in a beautiful heritage building on Church Cross Street. The high ceilings, mood lighting , great music , minimalist black and white pictures on white walls gives this space an understated elegance. The staff are efficient and friendly. But the best part is of course the food which is consistently great! The menu features contemporary cuisine with a touch of local flavours. Many of the ingredients are sourced from the South Coast. We love the Seafood dishes .The seafood platter is a firm favourite, which is essentially piles of fresh prawns, octopus, fish and squid grilled to perfection served as a sharing plate. The flavour filled grilled chicken is a must try. The pork dishes are absolutely amazing.Just about everything on the menu is delicious and comes beautifully presented. The desserts are quite divine too ,the crème brûlée is truly fantastic! Chef Charitha’s passion for food is evident in every dish! The restaurant also offers a great selection of wines and cocktails.
Highly recommend The Arch...
Read moreHad an awesome experience at the Arch for dinner with family. The restaurant is located in a quiet street inside Galle fort with beautiful ambiance. Restaurant is very nicely decorated and boasts large dining spaces and a mix of traditional colonial and modern architecture. We ordered traditional prawn curry with roast paan, seafood rice dish, cauliflower grilled and kid friendly mac and cheese. The prawn curry was so delicious and the roast paan was the best bread I had had in a while. The portions were also quite generous and the sea food rice dish was also very tasty and full of multiple sea food. We also got dessert; pana cota and creme brûlée and they were delicious as well. The service was superb. Professional yet very friendly and overall experience was a delightful experience for the family. An upscale restaurant with amazing food and service. Worth the price and highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious food and an amazing experience that you...
Read moreWhat a fabulous lunch! Nestled on a quite street the colonial building with high ceilings creates an instant impression. Service passionate and knowledgeable. Menu leads with seafood, but has an extensive meat offering as well as a surprising Taco section. We settled on the seafood platter. Each element cooked perfectly, the fish which we often find over cooked was an absolute ‘melt in your mouth’ perfection. A surprising highlight in the medley of fresh sweet seafood. We try to eat local, but the surprising tacos section had us intrigued and as a family favourite we decided to roll the dice. We should have not worried, barbacoa was the highlight, carnitas delicious, great salsa (although pico de gallo a touch too chunky for my liking) and delicious tortilla! Really not a stretch from the real deal. Cocktails really nicely balanced. Cream Brûlée another surprising desert but to rival any found in Paris. Just go, you won’t be...
