I have tried Pedlar’s Inn before and their food is top notch. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed this time so I thought I would give Pedlar’s Corner a chance instead. What a huge mistake.
We ordered two pizzas and a grilled prawns starter. The prawns were far from fresh and although they were described as grilled they tasted more like a soggy devilled prawn dish. Not great but nothing compared to what came next.
The pizzas were downright disgusting. The chicken pizza had dough that was raw and chewy. Completely inedible. The worst was the seafood pizza which was honestly vile. It tasted like someone dumped a can of cheap tuna on stale bread. There were supposed to be prawns but we did not find a single one. Just heaps of smelly canned fish that made everyone in our group give up after one bite. This horror cost almost four thousand rupees which makes it even more ridiculous. They didn’t even bother to cut the onions properly LOL!
The place was not clean either with water running all over the floor downstairs. The only reason I am giving two stars is for the friendly waiter who did his best. He was polite and helpful but only took the awful seafood pizza off the bill after we pointed it out. Still, he was the only good part of this whole experience and deserves credit for being kind.
It is so disappointing that places like this exist in Galle Fort because tourists might think this is what Sri Lankan food is like. If you care at all about good food or value for money do yourself a favour and avoid Pedlar’s Corner completely. You will thank...
Read moreWhere do I even begin? My recent visit to this restaurant was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Let's start with the excruciating wait time – over an hour for our food to arrive. By the time it finally did, any semblance of hunger had been replaced by sheer frustration.
Now, onto the food itself. The pizza, advertised as a seafood delight, turned out to be a bizarre concoction of sweetness that clashed horribly with the supposed savory toppings. It was a culinary disaster that left me questioning the chef's sanity. And if that wasn't bad enough, my friend made the grave mistake of ordering noodles, only to find them seasoned with something that left her with a stomach ache for hours afterward.
But wait, it gets worse. Our waiter, if you could even call him that, was the epitome of arrogance. Sporting a smirk that screamed "I couldn't care less," he managed to bungle every aspect of our dining experience. From repeatedly bringing us the wrong orders to completely botching our bills, it was clear that competence was not part of his job description.
And the cherry on top? When we dared to voice our dissatisfaction, the waiter had the audacity to laugh behind our backs, as if our concerns were nothing more than a joke to him.
In all my years of dining out, I have never encountered such a disastrous combination of incompetence and disrespect. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this establishment. It's not worth your time,...
Read moreMy recent experience at Pedlar's Corner Cafe was overwhelmingly negative, and I feel it's my duty to strongly advise others against visiting this establishment. While the staff were friendly, this was the sole positive aspect of our visit. The service was unacceptably slow, and our food was not delivered simultaneously, resulting in a significant wait for some members of our party. The food quality was truly appalling, especially considering the price point of approximately 2500 rupees per plate. My Nasi Goreng was "juicy and sour," completely uncharacteristic of the dish it was supposed to be. Similarly, the Kottu was marred by a "sour/limey taste," indicating a fundamental flaw in their preparation or ingredients. This level of culinary execution is simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, a significant number of our group suffered from a stomach bug after this meal, leading to additional time and expense for doctor's visits. This raises serious concerns about the hygiene and food safety practices at Pedlar's Corner Cafe. In conclusion, the combination of incredibly slow service, subpar and unappetizing food, and subsequent health issues makes Pedlar's Corner Cafe an establishment I absolutely would not recommend. It was a completely unsatisfactory and regrettable...
