I and my cousin came here for dinner in late August as a thank you for hosting me for the two weeks I was in Sweden. I always find it difficult to find reasonably priced and excellent food is much of SWEDEN, but this restaurant collective Crogan was above and beyond my expectations. Holy owned by the servers and cooks and management staff, it was clear to me that each single person cares extremely well for how this restaurant turns out. My cousin Angela reported it used to be a steak place that was quite good, but this restaurant is truly worthy of Michelin star. Here are my notes from that evening: “ The wine was divine and generous American pours for good price. (I find it SO CHALLENGING to get decent wine in Scandinavia, whether Stockholm, Copenhagen, or Malmo.) Lottie and Jens were attentive and the meal was served promptly and hot. The Cantarelles mushroom appetizer dish was succulent but crisp and divinely inspired with deep woods flavored, cooled and trimmed with a large sprinkling of Green spring lettuce. The Röding fish was cooked perfectly. A crispy exterior hid a gorgeously succulent pink tender flaky fresh fish. It says it’s smoked and then grilled and I would never have thought such a crunchy exterior (thin as a perfect potato chip) covered such a redolent flavorful fish. Best I’ve had outside of the Vättern” where even in Jönköping, I have found it hard to get fresh fish cooked so perfectly. The Röding, a true of red bass I think, was Served abed a crunchy fresh artichoke that was pickled and sweet. Embedded in a delightful lemon Bernaisse sauce with sprinkles of deep green olive oil. All served over American corn kernels and...

Kollektivkrogen is such a special place. It’s not just another restaurant — it’s run collectively by a group of people rather than a single owner, and you can really feel that community vibe as soon as you walk in. It’s cozy, personal, and full of character.
Every time we go, we order their entrecôte, which has pretty much become our ritual at this point. It’s always perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and simply one of the best pieces of meat you can get in Malmö. Honestly, it’s so good that we never even dare to try other dishes (though I’m sure they’re great too!). We’ve also had the tartare and the goat cheese salad, and both were delicious.
The atmosphere is another reason we love it — the warm lighting and tasteful decor make it super cozy without feeling over the top. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax.
And the people working there — they’re just lovely. Each time we’ve visited, we’ve been served by different people, and even though they might not be “professional” waiters, they’re always so friendly, smiling, and genuinely trying their best. That’s actually one of the reasons we keep coming back. It’s nice to see people who care and create such a positive vibe.
Kollektivkrogen has become one of those places we always look forward to — great food, great atmosphere, and great people. Highly...
Read moreWhat a cool concept! Really! Very refreshing for Malmö. The people working there are so friendly and ever so welcoming. The lady looking after us was an engineer by day and working there on her free time just for the change of scenery. I suggest booking for the restaurant, however you can have drinks and nibbles from a smaller menu outside or the bar area. Will...
