Premium Prices, Budget Experience – No Thanks!

Ah, Bröd & Salt at Sankt Eriksplan – where you’re charged like you’re at a five-star café in Paris, but treated like you’re crashing someone’s messy college dorm.

Let’s start with the ambiance. Dirty tables? Check. Crumbs and spills everywhere? Double check. The place had the charm of a post-party cleanup scene. I guess cleaning is optional when you’re charging premium for a lukewarm coffee.

The toilets? A choose-your-own-adventure nightmare. One had paper but no soap, the other had soap but no paper. Who knew basic hygiene was such a luxury in 2025? And no, it’s not “rustic” or “urban chic” when the restroom looks like it’s been through a minor apocalypse.

Service-wise, don’t expect a smile, a “hello,” or any sign that the staff acknowledge your existence. I wasn’t sure if I was in a café or a ghost simulation.

If you’re going to slap premium price tags on coffee, the very least you can do is maintain a clean space and hire people who look mildly interested in working there. Honestly, I’ve had better experiences at no-name coffee holes across Stockholm. At least they pretend to care.

I visited Brod&Salt this past Saturday randomly, it was packed with customers which kept coming in wave upon wave for good reason. Unfortunately the place seemed to be understaffed , may be due to an assortment of reasons . That said , this situation would be rough for any fully staffed establishment, however...a girl by the name of Lisa was INCREDIBLE, she took noticeable initiative to step up and made all the difference even while being harrassed by impatient patrons who obviously could not read a room to save their life! The reason I say this is bc I myself have a busy restaurant in NYC and know what this can feel like in the moment . I CANNOT stress enough how much of a difference she made with a smile on her face for people who indeed did not deserve one. I recently visited a coffee shop with exceptionally service-minded staff, and I was truly impressed by their helpfulness. From the moment I walked in, they greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome. They patiently explained the menu options, offered recommendations, and even customized my order to suit my preferences. Throughout my visit, they consistently checked in to ensure I had everything I needed and were quick to assist other customers as well. Their attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile truly enhanced my coffee shop experience, making it a memorable and enjoyable visit. Kudos to the staff for their outstanding service!
