Cannot recommend Cafe Schweizer enough. We’d been in Stockholm a couple of days and only had one full day left. Especially planning our days around our young kids wants and needs, we felt we hadn’t yet had an authentic and truly delicious Swedish food and fika experience. Cafe Schweizer took care of that and then some! The lunch was delicious (we got the shrimp toast and Swedish cake sandwich with salmon, apple, white fish and more) and the coffee and pastries even better, I’d say about PERFECT (Americano, cinnamon bun, a green cake maybe called Princess with crème strawberry marzipan, and a caramel apple tart) … and then the extra happy surprises: incredible fresh juices and warm warm warm entertaining and lovely service. Including an extremely articulate and charismatic manager and the most lovely owner ever who checked on us, took care of the kiddos, told us stories about the place and the neighborhood and posed for a photo with me. :) We were even lucky to witness a weekly local parade of sorts - we came on Sunday afternoon - which included the owner tossing oranges into the crowd and dancing with a parade leader! All in all it was the kind of culinary + local + human kind of experience you dream of having when visiting a cafe or restaurant while traveling. It was just perfect. I’ll be wishing this establishment continued success and...
Read moreThis morning in Stockholm, the temperature dropped to a brisk 11°C, and even with my puffer vest on, I was feeling the chill. Desperately craving a hot breakfast, I started frantically searching Google Maps for a cozy café. After what felt like an eternity of scrolling, I finally found a local spot in Gamla Stan that promised warmth and comfort. The walk took about ten minutes—not too bad, really, though in this cold it felt like an arctic expedition.
When I arrived, I was greeted by the sight of a four-egg omelette topped with salmon, served sizzling hot right in the skillet. To make things even better, it was generously covered with arugula and cheese, creating a delightful mess that could warm even the coldest of mornings. The eggs were perfectly cooked, giving off that comforting "just like home" vibe. And the coffee? Surprisingly good—although, in Sweden, I suspect you can get a decent cup of coffee just about anywhere.
As soon as you step into the café, you're met with a vibrant, colorful display of sandwiches and cakes in a refrigerated case that’s practically begging to be raided. I couldn’t resist and grabbed a Budapest cake as my post-breakfast dessert. The cake wasn’t overly sweet, which was perfect for someone like me who loves to indulge but fears the consequences. All in all, it was a breakfast adventure worth braving...
Read moreWe came here because of the good reviews.
Unfortunately, everything is super chaotic and the coffee is a hit or miss, mostly miss. Just watery, the milk is not frothed the way it should, just overall shitty quality coffee. I have better coffee with nespresso at work.
Also, Pomegranate juice is a trap, 150 sek ( ~14 eur ).
Sandwiches are good but in 10 days since we are staying here, on the last day the sandwich was less than decent.
I cannot recommend this place.
I felt robbed paying almost 40 euro ( 393 sel). for 1 latte, 1 pomegranate juice and a salmon sandwich.
The employees are nice but I came to eat and drink and thats just half of the experience.
Later edit: I tried talking to them and telling our problems and they understood but they were more keen on expressing how sorry they feel than fixing the situation ( like offering a refund or at least a partial one).
When I told them that their coffee machine or grinder wasn’t setup the way it should be ( offering them an expert opinion since I am an expert on machines and grinders) they tapped me on the shoulder and told me they’re sorry for my bad experience, showed me the door and left me talking. My mistake for trying to help them, even though...
