The Hotel Reisen was recently and brilliantly redesigned, and they nailed almost everything. It is a luxury four-star hotel, and as such gets a five-star rating from us. They are not, and don’t seem to claim to be, a true five-star property. But the hotel is perhaps the best possible choice for a visit to Stockholm.
Our stay was for two weeks in a Stockholm Suite over Christmas and New Year, with breakfast included. Our room was on a corner on the first (not ground) floor. It seems like many of the sea-view suites are on the first and second floors, with the view rooms getting smaller on higher floors. The non-suite rooms go from small to incredibly small, fine for shorter stays or summer days, but not so great for a longer winter stay.
In general: -Kind and accommodating staff. Every single one. -Best possible location for visiting – restaurants, souvenir shops, cobbled streets, and walk everywhere, from Östermalm to Södermalm, with ferry, bus, or metro at your doorstep for going everywhere else Expect some traffic noise to accompany your view -Never spoke to, or even saw, any kind of manager -There is no bell staff, but staff will assist if available -Everything clean, new, and super well-thought-out -Reception and lobby area are small, and with only two reception stations, it can get crowded and a bit difficult when bus tours hit -Dry sauna and chill pool are terrific -Fitness room is criminally small – a treadmill, a bike, a few weights, no space, and poor ventilation -Breakfast buffet and staff were excellent. -Lunch and dinner menus are identical, and quite limited -Restaurant seems chronically understaffed, but those working do amazingly well in a crush -Housekeeping was the only real problem area we saw. The hotel and rooms are absolutely clean, and the staff are friendly, but … Dead flowers are left in rooms, toilet and facial tissue are not replaced, even with some pretty big hints, and soap dispensers and the like are not refilled. All these things had to be asked for, and if you ask for two things, you’ll likely only get one. The same with the fitness room: towels and water aren’t regularly refreshed. -Pre-arrival communication was also spotty. We couldn’t get a response from the hotel for booking airport transfers, so we ended up booking direct with Limogroup SE.
No hotel is without its flaws, and the Reisen’s are small. We highly recommend...
Read moreI stayed at the First Hotel Reisen for four nights in January 2022.
The hotel is located super central, directly at the water front. The house has a new management for a few years and now is completely renovated. (Do not listen to creepy older reviews before or during the renovation process…) It now is a beautiful mixture of noble elegancy and modern coziness, with lots of stylish decorations and genuine old details. I even loved the inside of the elevator. :)
I had a queen size bed single room that was spacious and comfy with a nice bathroom, sustainable details (like bamboo tooth brushes and a wooden key card, continuous bottles of Swedish organic care products, changing of towels and bedding all few days or if needed…), a minibar with mini fridge, a small table and arm chairs, a big smart tv, a cozy bed with feather free duvets+pillow on request.
There is a small gym about that I can not say much because i didn`t have the urge to use it. ;) The wellness area offers everything you need after a long cold winter day outside: a spacious really hot finish sauna, a big 15°C cooling neck-deep swimming pool in an ancient vault, showers, bathrobes and towels and relaxation loungers. And a cozy piano bar for a good drink or two afterwards. ;)
The breakfast buffet was really rich (with gluten and lactose free products) and very tasty and is offered until noon on weekends. Or even a bit later. ;)
The service staff at the reception was always super welcoming, friendly, approachable and helpful with good recommendations for special restaurants.
And if you come to Stockholm for nordic ice skating like I did, the general manager Tomas always knows some nice go-to-spots with currently good wild ice in the nature.
Thank you so much to the team for the nice stay...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights. This was one of my 5stats hotels that I stayed… and believe me I have good fair share of this kind.
📜 It is a historical hotel and have archeological details (for instance in the spa area they have a foot print on the hall that dates back to 1600E.C.) which I particularly found spectacular!
🧭 If you go to Stockholm as a tourist it has a great location! You are in right spot!
🍲The Food is amazing, very good breakfast and delicious food (we had dinner there and everything was so good!)
💁🏼🍷 Staff super friendly and cozy ambience. Absolutely good vibe! Fancy hotel but no snobby staff here.
🪷The spa area is very Hyggelit (cozy) it is small (with only 2 beds) but a very good cold pool/lake and a big sauna. Also had waters and fruit for your enjoyment.
🛏️ we stayed in the suite with sauna. I loved the decoration and the historical vibe. I enjoy very much that had flowers arrangements. Welcome bottle of water (sparkling and still) and chocolate bar. I also had to work one morning and the desk was just fine for it. Very good amenities and had all kind of drinks snacks. Also a very good Nespresso machine if you like coffee as much as I do 🤓
⚠️Now just a few far warnings and the reason I don’t say it was my number 01:
❌ The rooms are not very sound proof. I had hear plugs and the room was faced into a narrow street and still could hear the morning traffic.
❌ The daily room service unfortunately was not good. They cleaned but not very well and they did not clean the cups that we had used the day before.
❌ They got cheap in some details. For instance I had a towel with holes on it! Maybe they are still recovering from pandemic economical crises.
Otherwise I truly recommend and definitely...
