I just visited Capannone which is located close to the train and subway station (around a 10 min walk).
Here’s my take.
The atmosphere was quite nice! Big and spacious and it felt elegant to be there. There was space, clean cutlery and cloth, nice hardware, everything from the lamps to how clean the carpet was. They had a do playing music and it wasn’t too loud as it usually is at hip restaurants. We’re tired of shouting the entire conversation.
Now service was great too! It’s quite unusual to get it authentic as you know service is not a big thing here in Sweden especially ans we would rather be left alone at the table but this was quite nice and not forced. We had our space but we were tended to often, quick and swift and discrete. It was nice when I wanted to pay it only took a few minutes, usually you have to wait there impatiently until they bring the card machine at other restaurants.
Toilets clean! Fancy!
My only complaint are two things but it’s two very important things.
First of all even if location is great, the restaurant is quite hidden. On the outside it was a large wooden door and it looked closed. No big signs or anything. Which they don’t need but they need something indicating that it is in fact a restaurant there.
I walked around for 15 minutes circling back according to the map, and I kept passing by the restaurant several times. So make sure you find it.
And the last part is the food. We were early. I had the swordfish filet. It tasted frozen and was most likely frozen. It was flat and it was like chewing rubber. Price was okay but obviously on a little bit more expensive side. Apparently I had to order a side with the fish that I also had to pay for. So the main dish was the fish only. A bit odd.
I would rather have them have fresh fish instead of being able to say swordfish but it’s not fresh. It tastes like the sea.. but in a bad way. Those who like seafood know the difference. 🐠🎣
All in all, beautiful gorgeous place, great service and friendliness, bad food ( my friends weren’t super happy about their food either) .
Would I recommend it? Yes but only if you go for drinks, cheese and dessert. A nice ambience that isn’t too crowded for an evening hangout.
Seems to be dog friendly as I saw someone having their French bulldog...
Read moreThey’re constructing at the entrance so already there it gives a dusty and unwelcoming feeling. The whole restaurant smells of paint and construction. Food was average and does not justify the pricing. The caprese was bland. The ricotta salsa rossa was really good though. Only one white bread which was soft and tasty but nothing special. The oysters were abysmal. Just a regular vinaigrette and oyster so small I barely tasted it. The oyster itself was badly opened with shells in it and they hadn’t removed the oyster from its shell which had me getting a sip of vinaigrette only. The lamb was decent. Very tender and flavors was good. Steamed veggies was decent too. The seafood pasta was a disappointment. You could smell the lobster claw was frozen and not fresh. Also impossible to break open. Don’t bother adding a lobster claw and relocate that money on fresh seafood instead. The pasta itself was luke warm and bland. My guess is the seafood sauce is cooked separately and in advance hence the bland lukewarm taste. The dessert trolley was underwhelming. The tiramisu was wet and soggy making the cream mixture runny enough I contemplated drinking the dessert instead. The pavlova was extremely disappointing. The meringue was chewy and stuck to your teeth for minutes until it melted away and despite being July in Sweden the strawberries were bland. Either they weren’t Swedish strawberries or you need to switch supplier. The cocktail was good though, and the bathroom was really nice but that’s about it. The service was nothing special. I can only compare it to l’avventura at a similar price point but much more value to the food, service and atmosphere. I would not recommend anyone to go there if they asked of my experience but perhaps my disappointment is based on my high expectations that...
Read moreFabulous evening at Capannone! Upon walking into the restaurant, we saw a wonderful evening ahead of us! The layout was spacious, and warm, with tasteful, upscale decor in a grand Italian tradition! The staff focused on guests from their initial greeting through the close of our dining experience! Our amazing waiter, Rodrico, suggested the lilac cocktail for me: best cocktail I’ve ever had---starting with its presentation, and then the delicately crafted flavors of the drink itself.
From the moment we sat down, Rodrico asked about our preferences, and the Capannone staff delivered, in spades!! The entire meal highlighted the straightforward and tasty food that bridges the culinary traditions of Swedish and Italian cuisine, thus creating a perfect pairing at Capannone. The chef prepared everything perfectly because he knows how to serve up a gorgeous meal where the flavors of the fish is the leading character!
I had a fish tartare appetizer and a main course white fish, something always at the top of my list! My husband ordered veal Milanese. Fantastico!!! Our guest for the evening raved about the Fettuccini Alfredo! Capping the evening, our waiter presented a dessert cart that made us lust for one of each! We ordered the trio of gelato, whose flavors matched the uniqueness of my cocktail starter!
The dessert and digestivo made a grand finale to top off a superb and fun evening...
