Today, my friend and I visited Da Luigi Italian Restaurant for an unplanned lunch. Here's an account of our experience:
Ambiance: The restaurant had a cozy setting with tasteful music selections featuring Andrea Bocelli, which was a pleasant touch. However, we were seated at a corner table behind a wall, beside a window. While not inherently bad, the spot felt somewhat blocked-off and isolated, diminishing the initial impression.
Service: The service, though polite, left a lot to be desired. Our waitress appeared rushed and stressed, despite the restaurant being at most one-third full. Her demeanor added an unnecessary tension to the experience, even though she tried to be kind. When we chose not to order alcoholic beverages, her visible disappointment felt unprofessional.
There were also several small but impactful lapses in service:
Wine glasses were left on the table despite our non-alcoholic orders, and my cola was served without a glass, ice, or a slice of lemon — an expected touch given the restaurant's pricing.
They brought new pizza knives but failed to clear the ordinary ones, showing a lack of attention to detail in table preparation.
When requesting a small box for leftovers, the waitress initially brought a large pizza box, which was unsuitable. Only after clarifying did she provide a smaller plastic box, and this was done without a bag or additional care.
Food Quality: We ordered two pizzas: Truffle and Triple Salami. Both were delicious, with good ingredients and flavors, but they had noticeable flaws:
Both pizzas were significantly burned — not just the edges but also the base.
The Triple Salami pizza was excessively salty. While salami and cheese can naturally be salty, it’s the chef’s responsibility to balance such flavors or adjust other ingredients to compensate.
Pricing and Value: The restaurant is positioned as a decent, mid-range eatery, not luxury. However, the service quality didn’t match the pricing. For example, my 55 SEK cola didn’t come with the simple, affordable touches one would expect, such as ice or a lemon slice.
Interaction: At the end of our meal, the waitress commented on my friend speaking English and me speaking Swedish, saying it confused her. This comment felt unnecessary and unprofessional, leaving us unsure of her intention or how to respond.
Overall Experience: Despite the pleasant environment and decent food, the experience was underwhelming due to multiple small yet impactful service missteps. Restaurants are about the complete package — food, service, and atmosphere. At Da Luigi, the lack of attention to detail and care for customer experience overshadowed the positives.
Recommendation: I wouldn’t recommend Da Luigi unless they address these issues. Small improvements, such as more attentive service, better communication, and thoughtful handling of customer requests, could significantly elevate the overall dining experience. Until then, it’s hard to justify a...
Read moreWorst dining experience ever. I booked a table for 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Upon arriving, two of us waited 30 minutes while the waiter (a middle-aged man with very short hair) served other customers. When I politely asked why we was not offered to be seated while waiting for my friends — explaining that I was heavily pregnant and needed to sit down — the waiter became extremely rude. He raised his voice at me, saying it was my fault since our entire party hadn’t arrived (2 friends running late), and that he wanted to give the table to others to sell more food and drinks. When I questioned why they allow reservations if the table isn’t held for the booked time, he continued to yell at me and act unprofessionally. To top it off, another waiter asked us to leave promptly at 8:30, despite the unpleasant experience.
We ordered drinks, steak, three pasta dishes, and a starter. The food was mediocre and definitely overrated. Another disappointing aspect was noticing that the waiter seemed to treat Swedish ethicity customers differently compared to towards us, a group of Asian women. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it felt like we were particularly mistreated. I feel that the staff at this restaurant need to learn basic respect and decency...

This is by far, the most bizarre and uncomfortable experience I have had in any restaurant in Stockholm.
We stood there for 15-20 min, when we were able to get a table for 4. We ordered three pizzas and four drinks, given that we wanted to start off with that, and if we were still hungry, we would order more.
The manager (or hopefully not the owner?) comes up to our table saying that we need to order another dish, and from there things got really bad.
In summary, we asked him why do we need to order another dish, and he easily escalated to an aggressive, rude tone, saying that there are 15-20 people staying in the cue to order food. “This is not a drink bar”.
“But we are not only drinking, we are also eating” “If I had more people like you guys, this restaurant would be closed. If you don’t want to order more food, then you could just get up and leave”.
And so we did. Unbelievable rude service, with an aggressive guy who knows absolutely nothing about customer service and treating people with respect.
We will never go back there again. And I hope you never...
