I have taken some time to consider this review, and have visited here a good number of times.
So here is why I have written a 5 star review: as a Scotsman, the aesthetic nostalgically reminds me of a traditional ‘snug’ bar; an intimate space that resembles the wooden decor of many old style 70’s pubs back in the Highlands the price is fair; not expensive at all for the area but a price you know isn’t putting the company at risk (it’s all about support) the bar staff are always warm, accommodating, and over time will remember you with good nature and jovial banter (ticks all boxes imo) the general atmosphere is always active and giddy; a busy night is a laugh and a quiet one is cozy while contemplative the quiz is another level of fun while masochistically difficult the food is simple for the sake of having no expectation (it’s a pub, not a restaurant), but the few dishes they do are generous and pretty damn nice the regulars are pure at heart and a pleasure to drink with. always a solid playlist in the background (classic and unconventional rock for the most part). It’s also at a mildly low level so you can have a conversation with ease.
As someone alien to Swedish culture and finding a place in which to immerse myself, this has been a great place to feel at home, in more ways than one.
Would recommend you get there early, and push to...
Read moreLoch Ness is everything a snug pub should be - cosy, warm and welcoming, priced well, good music, and tucked away down a side street you’d almost miss it.
Hopping across Stockholm via way of navigating its bars and pubs, the reviews for Loch Ness drew me in straight away and I would just recommend to read those. Nothing further can be said that describes it better.
Immediately upon walking up to the bar we were greeted warmly and, despite our very poor attempts at Swedish, recommended several of the beers on offer. It was half full on our arrival, petered out slightly, but by our second pint it was full and had a vibrant atmosphere.
We only popped in for one beer before we would continue our walk across Stockholm, but it was soon three beers later. Would definitely add this to my must-visit pubs...
Read moreI considered giving a bad review or of pure selfishness, but I must repent - It would neither be fair to you nor the staff to give Loch Ness a poor review.
This place is like its namesake hard to find, and maybe too good to be true, (keep in mind to avoid the Independent gift shop to the east), heck, it might have all been a wonderful fever dream.
The staff was so service-minded and attentive that I was afraid they were going to throw me out until i realized they were asking for my order. Turns out they were even suggesting the idea of tasting what they had suggested for me to order, just a bit, but please drink all of it - Simplifies the logistics I must suspect.
Thank you for a great surprise. All the best,...
