I have been eating Indian food for a long time and can recommend Chili masala for authentic punjabi food. Usually we dont try indian/pakistani food in central city due to non-authenticity and crazy prices.
One of our good friend recommended this place as their experience was quite amazing last time they came here so we were looking forward to something different than our favorite place. Sadly, this night turned out to be a disaster. Be careful of the high rating, it could be fake reviews which many establishment are doing or so I hear.
The following were the issues: Told them to make it proper spicy and ordered vindaloo. Sadly it wasn't very spicy and meat seemed to be in pieces as it was slow cooked. The chicken mix sizzler mix came with a sauce which wasn't tasty or spicy. I would recommend highly to go with chutneys like Coriander Chutney, Tamarind Chutney, yoghurt etc. Don't bring Naan first! They became hard when the food arrived. Provide first the food and then Naan. Mango Lassi was sour and sweet. Either you have added unripe sweet mangoes or it wasn't even sweet mangoes to began with. I was quite surprised and the waiter even gave me wrong information in the start what type of yoghurt they used. Took them around an hour to prepare our food while the place was almost empty. Waiter seemed to not care much and wondered if we came to the same masala masala and if it was also on Sunday. Then it went to that the chef is relatively new. It was our friends Birthday who was inviting us to this dinner. You ruined his day. He did not come for an experimental food but a constant good quality so him and his friends can enjoy the evening. Waiter was borderline mocking us and in the end do come back again especially when we said we will not be coming to this establishment again. It is one thing that customer has gone through a bad night but fueling them and not providing any apologies and taking in the feedback is rude and unprofessional. In this case, I was lucky that I did not have to pay for this dinner but I feel quite sorry for my friend. He should at least get an apology.
The following were okay: Masala Masala IPA was interesting Garlic Naan was good but really overpriced
Conclusion: Do not come here if you want authentic, tasty, good service and decent...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, it's important to note that neither the owner nor the cook is Indian, which was reflected in the food that was far from authentic Indian cuisine. As an Indian myself, I know what authentic Indian food should taste like, and this was nowhere close.
The owner, who is from a neighboring country of India, was extremely arrogant and disrespectful. He insisted that we place our entire order at once, and when I tried to order something else later, he got upset. When I asked for a popular Indian dish, "Dal Tadka," he didn’t even know what it was and then told me he only had chana dal and that I could take it or leave it.
Overall, the food and service were both disappointing. The owner's attitude and lack of respect towards customers made the experience even worse. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Indian food or a pleasant...
Read moreI walked in with no special expectations. Place looks nice but the proof lies in the gulaab jamun so to speak. Right off the bat waiter gets hostile when asked about vegetarian dishes, I let this pass as he clearly misunderstood the question, but this wasn't the start I was hoping for. Hopes were further dashed as the food came in: absolutely tasteless and the rice that came with it, a disgrace in both quality and preparation. Put nicely, I won't ever set foot here again. Anyone looking for a proper Indian should go to Karims or the other place nearby, passing Zinkensdamm up the street. Zero...
