Really nice Bangladeshian food! Disclaimer: I love Indian food, that’s very similar, but I still haven’t been to both countries myself.
Compared to the most Indian restaurants in Europe, the menu was surprising! Finally something else than butter chicken (although I love it). And I’ve never seen Duck on an Indian menu before so maybe I prefer the Bangladeshian kitchen 😊
The hasher josh was really good, reminded me a bit of indonesian duck, very tender and great spices. The nihari gost was very tender too, no wonder, if it’s cooked for 5 hrs 😆 I had the mixed thali, and at first I thought it looked a bit small as a portion, but it was enough. The shrimp sauce was very nice, but the shrimps were just ok. The lamb was awesome, but the menu said it were 3 stews and it was ‘just’ a lamb chop. The Balti chicken was nice too. The naan was good, pretty fluffy, not the best we know.
The desserts: brownie was above average, the icecream sizzlar was very disappointing. (A bad Belgian waffle on a sizzling plate, which burned the waffle after a while, with vanilla and mango icecream on it with some pomegranate on it)
As drinks we had a bottle of good Merlot and an apple juice, and that came with a straw (happens a lot, I AM NOT A CHILD! 😖). Other remarks: service was fine, fast enough, but not really friendly/happy. Very hard to understand when they mentioned the dishes.
For the main courses you should definitely go there, even though it’s...
Read moreGreat friendly local bengal restaurant with nice staff. Delicious food for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Its usually easy to get a table - we even walked in on New Year’s Eve and got seated immediately even if it was nearly full. We tried the most spicy dish - Bengali fire - which was tasty. It is spicy though so be prepared. I can also recommend the fish dishes. This place focuses more on a nice whole meal and not on excess rice. Great prices...
Read moreBeen here quite a lor before and been very happy with the food but last visit what somewhat dissapointing in terms of taste (bland / boring) and the now very small portions. I just got a few pieces of meat and didn't even get enough sauce to eat it to finish my rice let alone my naan that had to go down dry. Will give it another try to see if I just had an unlucky visit or if this is the new standard which sadly will force me to go...
