I was walking through the Old Town when I noticed a sign at the entrance of this restaurant stating that you need to speak Russian to receive good service. This is blatant discrimination based on language and nationality — completely unacceptable in a modern European capital.
To make it even worse, the place serves traditional Ukrainian dishes like borscht, varenyky, and Chicken Kyiv — yet presents them as part of Russian cuisine. This is not only misleading but deeply offensive, especially given the ongoing suffering caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Read moreFound this place completely on accident while exploring the city. First of all, the vibe is absolutely amazing. Insanely cozy and well decorated. Secondly, you don’t need to be a Slav to enjoy this food. But if you happen to be Ukrainian (like me) and you’re missing a piece of home then you MUST come here. We had Blinchiki with meat and mushrooms, Borscht, Pelmeni and Frikadelki among other things. Everything tastes like babushkas cooking!! It is a shame we don’t live in Sweden because we would eat here all the time. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

You try again on another day with a prior call - telling you want to make a reservation in about 30 mins for 8 people - they tell you that a reservation is not required, since there're enough free tables, and we can just come over.
