Skeppsbro Bageri is a true gem in the heart of Stockholm's Old Town, and it's easily the best bakery I've had the pleasure of visiting.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the aroma of freshly baked goods, and the display of pastries, bread, and treats is nothing short of mouthwatering. The variety of offerings here is impressive, catering to all tastes and preferences.
The quality of their baked goods is exceptional. Whether you're indulging in a flaky croissant, savoring a hearty loaf of bread, or enjoying one of their delectable pastries, each bite is a testament to the skill and dedication of the bakers at Skeppsbro Bageri.
What sets this bakery apart, apart from its delicious offerings, is the charming atmosphere. The cozy interior and the welcoming staff make you feel right at home. It's the perfect place to start your day with a freshly brewed coffee and a pastry or to pick up some treats to enjoy while exploring the historic streets of Gamla Stan.

Read moreAbsolutely brilliant place for breakfast! It’s a super spot on the waterfront and if you can secure a table outside in the sun it’s brilliant, but even inside is a great experience. The open bakery behind the counter proves the freshness of the wide variety of items and there really is something whether you’re looking for sweet or savoury. The chilled counter at the end also has some great freshly made items, and the prawn toast was a huge portion! Not every item appeared to be restocked once it ran out, so get here early!
Filter coffee is available although we found it very strong, and coffees made from the machine were quoted with a fifteen minute wait. There’s no English descriptions and the staff didn’t seem too used to tourists, but that’s what gave it such a great vibe and it was probably a highlight of this visit...

There were a lot of people, and the kitchen was open, so you could see a guy in a cap, without gloves, and in dirty clothes making buns (some might be okay with that, but it definitely wasn’t hygienic). The prices were very high, though it's understandable given the location in the historical center. One sandwich cost 172 kroner — very expensive. In the end, we got 4 buns and one tea, and paid 250 kroner. The buns tasted completely ordinary. The worst part — I found a piece of metal from a dishwashing sponge (the metallic kind) in the second bun. We didn’t finish them. The tables were dirty, and you could wait forever for someone to clean them. Really...
