Like virtually everything in Stockholm, Farang is expensive, but for the quality you get, it is actually pretty good value for money. Expect to pay between 20-30 euros on average for each sharing dish and 70 euros per person for the (very extensive) tasting menu. Drink prices, as is becoming of Sweden, are sobering (think 10-15 euros per glass). But enough about prices, the food is bloody excellent. Farang is possibly the best Asian I've eaten outside of Asia. We had the soft shell crab salad, the mussel/cod broth, the scallops and the morning glory - all full of flavour and showing great respect for the protein and other fresh produce they work with here. I would recommend any of these dishes and I find it hard to pick favourites but the cod and mussel dtom kha showed the most complexity and packed a punch with the additional sauces. Service was professional (friendly but well versed) and the atmosphere very relaxed and chic. GO THERE!
P.S. Vivino pro tip: the cheapest Riesling on the menu (Wittmann 100 Hills) is actually one of the more expensive ones in retail prices and works really well with the food. They probably get a good deal for it, which is why it is...
Read moreWe were a party of 16 visiting. We started off with drinks in the bar before having dinner (Tasting menu).
The cocktails were good. The food was okay, but not great. Mediocre I would say.
The service.. I was quite pleased with the service in the front bar. This changed when we moved to the dining hall. First, the wine. I inquired about a Riesling if it was dry. The waiter said it was semi-dry. He then brought the bottle and afsked if I wsnted to taste first. I did, and it was super sweet, so I told him and we ordered another bottle, that was good. 20 minutes later he comes back and tells me, that the first bottle was not sold by the glass, so I was obligated to buy it anyways. I tried reasoning with him, that he was the one who asked me to taste it first, and What the point was then. He just said "it's polite".
Then, during dinner, they were super slow to actually serve the table. We waited ar least 45 minutes before the first dish was served. However they were too Quick to remove the dishes afterwards, after every serving. People weren't finished eating.
Lovely atmosphere and deco though. Cozy bar in front and vibrant dining hall behind it.
I will not be...
Read moreMy visit to Restaurang Farang in Stockholm in March was a culinary journey beyond expectations! On a snowy day in the city, the restaurant proved to be a true gem, offering an impeccable selection of signature dishes that showcased the chef's mastery.
Dining with my closest people in the cozy ambiance was a joy. The intimate setting enhanced our shared experience of delectable appetizers and mouthwatering main courses, creating cherished memories in a warm and inviting space. However, the lively atmosphere, while adding to the vibrancy, was a tad louder than expected.
The wine selection deserves accolades; it perfectly complemented the diverse menu, curated by an adept sommelier. The thoughtfulness in pairing wines with each dish elevated the dining experience.
Beyond the culinary excellence, the restaurant's design exuded modernity and style, contributing to the overall sophistication. Despite the minor noise inconvenience, Restaurang Farang remains a five-star destination, promising an unforgettable gastronomic adventure. I look forward to revisiting this establishment to savor more of its culinary delights against the backdrop of Stockholm's...
