We had a great dinner at Prinsen during our first visit to Stockholm! Very busy on a Saturday night so recommend reserving in advance. The change over of tables was so quick and impressive! I tried herring for the first time and absolutely loved it! The starter - Sillbricka with five different kinds was a perfect way to try it. My husband’s Toast Skagen was great too. The Seafood Wallenbergare was new for me too and an unexpected texture but delicious and full of flavour. My husband enjoyed the meatballs. Nearly too full for dessert but wanted to try the Swedish cheesecake to round off the night of new foods! Different to cheesecake I’ve had in the past as it’s made with cottage cheese & almonds - really delicious with blackberries, toasted almonds and ice cream. Service of the food was a little slow but understandable on a busy night with the staff working very hard. The short break between courses was welcome and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and our dinner overall!

We had high hopes for Restaurant Prinsen, as the atmosphere and decor were absolutely charming, with a cozy, classic vibe that really draws you in. However, the experience fell short when it came to the food and service. The Wallenbergare and meatballs, which are supposed to be standout dishes, were extremely disappointing—lacking both flavor and quality. On the other hand, the Toast Skagen was a pleasant surprise and one of the few highlights of the meal. The service was another letdown. Simple things like refilling water were overlooked, and it took over five minutes to flag someone down just to ask for the check. For a restaurant at this price point, this level of service is unacceptable. While the setting and ambiance are lovely, the poor food quality and inattentive service make it hard to recommend Prinsen. For what they charge, you’d expect a much better overall experience.

I was in Stockholm on vacation and came here the day before yesterday because a friend recommended it to me before returning to Japan. The atmosphere and the food are very nice and i was happy to know the traditional swedish food. But, I went in with my clothes on before I boarded the plane with no make up, so the young blond waiter looked unwelcome to me, which made me feel uncomfortable at first time. I would have felt even more comfortable if he improved his attitude. The older server was very very nice and had a comfortable time finally. I wish they would treat customer regardless of our attire since it is a restaurant to serve food and sometimes there are customers who isn't well dressed like me due to before airplane, even though they have enough money, but we would like to go back next time with appropriate attire.

We recently dined at this restaurant and enjoyed the delicious traditional food, particularly the meatballs. The decor and atmosphere struck a perfect balance, blending traditional charm with modern touches. It felt inviting without being overly heavy or dated. The service, while generally decent, did have its drawbacks. We experienced a lengthy wait between our starters and main courses, and our waiter seemed a bit confused throughout the evening. When we attempted to change one of our dessert orders, we were told it wasn't possible because it had already been prepared. However, we were later surprised when the waiter brought us the wrong dessert, which happened to be the one we initially wanted to change to. This left us questioning the truth of the earlier explanation.

We were a group of 20+ people but late for a while, then we were required to finish our dinner within 75 minutes. The waitress was very rude. The whole experience was stressful. We were not asked for second drink. Side dishes were taken away while eating. Serving desert without asking coffee but put the bill immediately on the table. Then asking for extra tips because we were 10 minutes overtime (19:40) while they didn’t have upcoming guests. I can’t believe this was my second time being there. It seems like they don’t want us as their recurring customers. I don’t want to conclude that they are racists but true they have more smiling faces to Swedish people. Food was ok but the whole experience made it distasteful.

From the reviews it seems that they don’t really welcome Asian travelers. If you came here from watching tiktok/xiaohongshu, I urge you find somewhere else that welcomes your businesses. From someone traveling through Europe many times this establishment shows it blatantly by serving white Americans/Europeans first before serving us (two Asians from the States). Perhaps they are slow but we have been waiting for our main course plates to be cleared off our table and waiting for our dessert for at least 10-15 mins. Overall not a good experience, the food is mediocre at best with the price that doesn’t really match the quality. Was expecting more for the meatballs but they are just slightly better than those of IKEA.
