Sturehof: A Charming Culinary Wonderland Nestled within the nooks and crannies of a captivating building, Sturehof is a dining establishment that exudes an enchanting allure. This hidden gem, reminiscent of a magical hideaway straight from the pages of a J.K. Rowling novel is a testament to the power of ambiance and culinary excellence. Upon entering Sturehof, one is immediately transported into a realm of beauty and charm. It's as if each corner holds a secret waiting to be discovered, inviting guests on a delightful journey through its whimsical spaces. But Sturehof is more than just a pretty facade; it is a place where culinary wonders come to life. The menu is a symphony of flavors, offering a tantalizing array of dishes that showcase the finest ingredients and masterful techniques. From mouthwatering seafood delicacies to sumptuous meat creations, every bite is a revelation of taste and artistry. The attentive and knowledgeable staff at Sturehof are like wizards of hospitality, ensuring that every guest is treated like a cherished patron. Their passion for their craft shines through as they effortlessly guide diners through the menu, suggesting the perfect pairing and attending to every need with a touch of magic.

We came here in the summer as a recommendation from a work colleague in Stockholm. We came both times on a weeknight and noticed a good number of locals here after work since they were dressed in their work attires. The good thing about this place is the late night dining. It stays open until 2am or so which is unheard of unless you're in NYC or Asia! The waitstaff all donned starched white jackets giving off a classic restaurant vibe. If you are a seafood lover, this is the place to go. Herring, crab, fish, oysters.....we devoured everything! As the evening progressed we noticed the music got louder and more young singles dressed in clubby attire coming into the restaurant going upstairs. Turned out they were going to the rooftop bar. Us old folks went next door after dinner where Sturehof has its own food market with a bar seating and few tables. You can access this place directly from the restaurant. We sat at the bar and had more drinks here. They served food and takeaways too.

We came here for dinner, definitely make reservations on the weekends, and it was packed. The restaurant is on a great location and it's fun for people watching. The staff are very profesional, helpful, and attentive. It is a higher end restaurant and posh. The food was incredible. We ordered the halibut with prawns, poached egg, horseradish and hollandaise on browned butter. The hollandaise sauce was one of the best I've ever had. If they had a starter dish that was just the hollandaise sauce and stuff to dip into it, I order it. The other dish was a white fish with fennel, dill aioli, and dill pistou. That dish was also really good, specially the dill aioli. A great restaurant for great food.

[Writing the review in English so all international guests will be warned. If you have any sense of integrity and especially if you’re used to good service, please go elsewhere].

I don’t know if I should laugh or cry whilst writing this review, and honestly I am at a loss for words whilst trying to even summarize the awful treatment we received at Sturehof this evening. To make the story short, we were asked to leave the restaurant because we (a party of two, not drunk, sharing one bottle of red wine and having dinner) were sitting close to ech other and the waitress with blonde short hair (beware…) wanted us to move a chair so she could pass by our table. Fine, but we were sitting outside (in Sweden, in December) by the windows and she had to walk two meters to the left to pass by easily. We questioned the absurdity in this, and told her we could happily move if she had to walk to the only table behind us. But she didn’t like being questioned. Plus, we weren’t blocking any table at all, as I wrote before she could just make a small detour by two meters. I guess she had a bad day (life?) and overreacted heavily. Even the other waiters and the bouncer thought so, but even worse - the manager didn’t even try to have a conversation and acted many times more rude and agressive towards us than whatever had happened in the nice conversation we had with her that she found so offensive. Let me once again add that we were a couple of two, sharing a bottle of wine a Wednesday evening. The level of their offensiveness here is beyond what I could even imagine in my wildest dreams. We are from Sweden but live in a big city in south east Asia and this treatment reminded us why we would never move back to Sweden. So communication with this waitress was no issue as we speak the same language. Management issues x 1000 at this place. Avoid at all costs, especially if you have some pride, but also if you have really low expectations of how you’d like to be treated. This is supposedly a fancy expensive place, so the shock of how we were treated is even greater. Never spending my money here again, not one single...

We came relatively late but the place was packed. Great atmosphere. Even though the place was as full as it could get, we got service within a minute of sitting down, and within another minute we both had drink and bread. I was unlucky and found a hair in my food, and notified the waiter. I didn't want anything to be done about it, I only wanted to notify them of it. The waiter immediately offered me a new portion, to which I declined, as I was perfectly happy to eat the portion I had. When I got the bill, they had subtracted my food from it. I insisted I wanted to pay for it, especially since I ate it all and it was fantastic and since the service was fantastic too, but they insisted. The service was impeccable. From start to finish, they were incredibly attentive, professional and warm. My girlfriend had risotto, (I tasted it, and it was easily one of the best I'd had. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the added lemon zest really pushed it above and beyond) and I had the lobster pie with endive salad. The lobster itself was so tender, juicy and tasty, and as a whole the pie was utterly fantastic. I'd never had lobster pie before, and now I don't think I ever will again, because there's no way it can live up to this. I feel bad that they wouldn't let me pay for my food, but I console myself that I'll just make it up on our...
