I was super stoked to try out tengu as it's said to be one of the best ramen spots in Stockholm. What I was surprised about was the fact that they did not have the Tonkatsu option in ramen which is the base flavour most other ramen joints offer. I ordered the spicy tantanmen and to my dismay, it was not what I expected with the spice level quite below average. If you have reservations against spicy food and are scared by the chilli symbols beside the menu, fret not since they won't blow the top of your head off. Personally for me, when I order something with chillis beside the name, I expect it to be uncomfortably delicious and that didn't happen in this case. So I'll be taking a star off for that. My friends tried the shio which is the salted broth and they really appreciated the depth of flavour. A pork broth would have amped it up way more than the chicken broth they use. But coming to the positives, this is a well located place just a few mins walk from Tekniska and Odenplan and definitely worth a visit. Their salad options are also delicious and leave you craving for more. My friend ordered the tofu salad and I would have liked more tofu in it but taste-wise, no complaints there. The price is a tad higher than the 150kr at other joints but the ambience and the wide array of alcohol options do make it an experience to remember. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or a fancy dinner. They are equipped for both. Don't expect a romantic setting since it's usually bustling with people, but that's how you know the place is good. And when you're content with good food and drinks you can do your romance back home...

The restaurant is very nicely decorated.

The service was oddly slow, I don’t think the restaurant was overly busy but it still took about 20 minutes just to get started on drinks. Having said that, despite tardiness, the staff was very nice.

For starters i tried the tempura oysters, mostly because I had never eaten tempura oysters before. I think that while it was a nice flavor experience, especially with the sauce, it unfortunately didn’t really highlight the oyster as the primary flavor profile, which kind of made it a little disappointing. I still thought it was a tasty dish based on how well the tempura and the sauce worked together, but honestly the contents probably could been anything.

For the main, we tried the pork belly. I’m a big fan of pork belly, all the way from the savoury versions found in baos, to the simple Germanic ones that mostly relies on techniques as the one I ate at Shangri-La in Gothenburg; this however was quite disappointing. The pork belly skin wasn’t really on that lovely crackling level, the fat hadn’t gotten time to render slowly, and in general it felt like it had no complementary flavors to elevate the dish. It was alright though, it wasn’t dry at least.

I’d recommend coming here for a meal to experience it since they do seem to try new things a lot which I think should...

Even though the food was tasty despite the relatively pricey cost, what brought me here to write a review was the service of staff. After arriving at the dinner and being quite hungry and eager to order a meal, I kept trying to make an eye contact with the waitress, who kept noticing me and ignoring me as if I were an intrusive stranger on a street, which was in itself a strange experience that makes you feel unwelcome at a place. But what outraged me most was when we finished our dinner and the same waitress came and with a cold and indifferent look, just tapped on the table and said “Others are waiting for a table”, which was essentially “Get out” and walked away. We did leave, however it left us feeling with an experience of being kicked out from a place just because there was a chance to accommodate and let more customers in. And precisely because of this experience I would never want to come back to this place again, so I really hope that the staff members can take this review as a feedback intended to help them provide a better, more polite and more humane service regardless of how stressful, crowded and busy the day is. People don’t just come to have food at a place like this, they also come to be treated in a way that makes them feel welcome and happy to be there, so please work...

5 stars for the Vietnamese salad, 2 stars for the rest of the dishes. The salad was refreshing and flavorful with a great combo of seasonings. The flank steak was not tender enough, and contains too much tendons, plus cut into too big slices for biting size, especially chopsticks were served as the default tableware. The pork neck skewer was only salty, with a slight hint of Sichuan pepper, no other flavors at all. The Shoyu ramen is way too salty, plus super greasy, I couldn’t drink the soup. The Chashu was almost as dry as the packaged smoke beef in the supermarkets. The egg was over cooked as well.
