Ristorante Da Carlo — Restaurant in Bern

THE BEST PIZZA in Bern. I was traveling for work in Switzerland and I end up in Bern like most of the week,while I was looking for some new place to eat “Da Carlo” restaurant pop up in front of my eyes, so I thought why not some Italian food.

I am from italy but living in china, I don’t get a lot of Italian food and when it comes to my roots I expect a lot ,so the pizza was the best option for me.

The place it’s warm friendly,the staff are kind polite and friendly,the owner present in all the tables like he was his house and the costumers were his guest introducing himself with smiles and jokes,great place for date family or group of friends the prices are good balance for the quantity and the food quality,especially, the pizza simply amazing and surprisingly overtake my expectation.It Was a bless found this little piece of italy in the centre of Bern 100% approved by an Italian and I will go...

The combination with the wooden tables, one of them maybe used to form a painting; The black and white photos hanging side by side with old journals, together with the lamps, lights and chandelier giving off an old timey feeling.

I ordered a "Garlic, Oil and Pepper Pasta" and mind you, while it is simple it is difficult to make in a restaurant in the correct way. Usually, it would take time to give it the right aroma. In this case, the only complaint would be how spicy it was, but i'm a lightweight, and usually do not eat spicy foods.

Friendlier and welcoming where the staff. Good people, nice to interact with, and over all helpful.

We had a nice time, ate well and tried decent desserts.

I'll gladly come back to eat here when i've got time.

Meine Frau und ich waren gestern Abend bei Da Carlo essen. Schon vor unserem Besuch hatte ich einige Rezensionen gelesen und war ehrlich gesagt etwas Skeptisch. Trotzdem entschieden wir uns, dem Restaurant eine Chance zu geben – auch, weil wir noch Gutscheine hatten und uns auf einen gemütlichen Abend freuten.

Der Empfang war herzlich, das Personal freundlich. Doch leider endete der positive Eindruck dort. Die Einrichtung wirkte, als sei sie seit den 90er-Jahren unverändert geblieben – . Neben uns saßen zwei ältere Damen, die bereits ihr Essen hatten. Als ich deren Pizza sah, dachte ich nur: „Oh je… eine Tiefkühlpizza vom Discounter sieht appetitlicher aus.“

Leider bestätigte sich dieser Eindruck auch bei unserem Essen. Geschmacklich und optisch konnte es in keiner Weise überzeugen – lieblos angerichtet.

Zum Schluss dann noch eine Enttäuschung: Unsere Gutscheine wurden nicht akzeptiert, da das Restaurant kürzlich den Besitzer gewechselt hat – obwohl es weiterhin unter dem gleichen Namen läuft. Immerhin: Der neue Besitzer war sehr freundlich, erklärte die Situation und gewährte uns 20 % Rabatt als Entschuldigung. Das war fair und wertschätzend.

Fazit: Trotz des freundlichen Service werden wir Da Carlo nicht noch einmal besuchen. Das Essen und das Ambiente entsprechen leider nicht unseren...
