Pizza Burger Lugano — Restaurant in Circolo di Lugano ovest

This place addresses one of the most common problems with burgers: the (often boring) bun, by replacing it with oven-fresh pizza dough rolls! There's more to this place than this tasty gimmick, though. The meat patties actually taste like real beef, and have some texture! I was also happy to see that the "hot burger" comes with slices of fresh jalapenos, rather than the bland, mushy, pickled slices most places would serve, so, that's another win in my books. Oh, and the fries sort of look like McDonald's fries, but done right: they're crispy, and just lightly salted, very good! The chicken burger is also a winner, with slices of juicy, crispy fried chicken, good job there, too. All in all, a very nice burger joint, and I'm hard to please when it comes to burgers!

If I can only make one suggestion for improvement: I'd like a little bit more sauce in the burger, the top half of the bun was a bit dry. Would make it even more of a sloppy mess, though. But that's...

We went to this place when we were visiting Lugano. I was really craving burger while my wife wanted a pizza. We were fairly exhausted from drive into Lugano earlier that day and were looking for take-out food. Further, traveling from the US, the restaurant food in Switzerland seemed quite expensive. So, we were looking for something budget and yet nicer than grocery store food. The food here was amazing! I got their "hot burger" and it was both uber-filling and delicious. My wife got their Marinara (or was it Margherita?) pizza and same thing. They guy at the counter, who was both the chef/cook and the check-out manager was very friendly too.

Outstanding burgers. I'm a bit of a burger aficionado, and live in the US where access to good burgers is pretty excellent, so traveling Europe this month, one of the only things I truly missed about the States was a big, juicy, perfectly cooked and well accompanied burger and fries. I was thrilled to see that Lugano had a few burger spots around, and even more thrilled that we chose this spot for our last dinner before heading out of Switzerland. Both burgers we got were literally some of the best I've ever had, among the thousands I've certainly eaten throughout my life. The Double Cheeseburger was a wonderful new experience given the bun, and the smash burger was exactly like one from home.
