Café Calico — Restaurant in Geneva

Okay so—normally I don’t go out just to drink coffee. Especially where you’re paying like 5-7 CHF for something that tastes… 😕

But this place? Different story.

The vibe, the flavor, the way they actually care about the coffee? It hits. Not just good for Geneva — genuinely amazing anywhere. It’s the only café in the city which I visited so far where I’ve walked out thinking, “Damn, I’d come back here just for that coffee.”

Visiting Geneva early in January 2023, I happened to pass by this shop and, on a whim, decided to give it a try – a decision I do not regret, even though I would usually always look to have coffee in a "proper" mug sitting down: The V60, which the gentleman at the counter offered to freshly brew for me, was fabulous (even in a take-away cup), and we had a nice chat about the fledgling specialty coffee scene in Switzerland to boot. Great little café across from the rainbow crossing. Great service. The barista was very nice. He straight off offered to toast my sandwich, without me asking. Everything also came quite fast.

Coffee was good. Quite strong which I love. Well brewed. Food was good too. I had a chicken sandwich and a croissant which were both good. I suspect the croissant to be organic, as the dough had that organic flour kind of taste.
