EigerBean - The Coffee Roastery (Grindelwald)
Somewhere up high, in the Swiss Alps, brews a magical and cozy atmosphere.
This is not your typical coffee place. Once you step inside, to your left, you’ll find cozy intimate layout of comfortable leather loveseat, two small barstools by the order counter. Behind the couch you’ll find Swiss-Themed Artwork on black background.
By far, what makes this coffee shop truly, one of a kind is the absolute beautiful breathtaking views. When you sit in one of the three barstools and look out the window, you’ll discover a picturesque view, unlike anything you’ve seen before. The Swiss Alps!
They offer small menu; Pour Over, Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino, Coffee Latte, Flat White, Mocca, Spanish Latte, Cortado and bakery items. I ordered a “EigerPresso” Pour Over and Loaf Cake.
I started out sitting on the couch since I was the only customer and was able to spike up great conversation with the owner and his part-time barista who I clicked with immediately because of our love for travel. She’s part-time travel agent and fluent in five languages.
Little while later, while I was enjoying my Dark Roast, “EigerPresso,” and looking out the window, waiting out the rain, a small family of five walked in with an elderly lady. I offered the comfortable couch to them to make sure their elderly lady didn’t have to sit on one of the barstools by the window. I moved to a small table, on a barstool by the order counter.
I noticed they were talking in a different language and barista was able to fluently converse with them. As they continued talking with the barista, one of them switched to English and asked, “Why are you fluent in Thai?” “Thai is one of my favorite languages and the people are so genuine, kind and friendly,” barista replied.
That statement peaked my curiosity about Thailand. Only one way to truly find out about that profound statement… I’d have to travel to their beautiful country and find...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Eigerbean, the charming coffee roaster nestled in the heart of Grindelwald. I must say, my experience was nothing short of delightful.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional coffee they offer. I opted for a V60 pour-over, and the result was a cup of liquid perfection. The coffee was expertly brewed, showcasing the rich flavors and aromatic nuances that make Eigerbean a true gem for coffee enthusiasts.
Beyond the coffee itself, the atmosphere at Eigerbean is equally noteworthy. The ambiance exudes a relaxed feeling, making it the ideal spot to savor your cup of coffee.
In summary, Eigerbean is a must-visit destination for anyone in Grindelwald who appreciates top-notch coffee and a welcoming atmosphere. I left with a satisfied palate and a desire to return for more of their...
Read moreMakes actual espresso which is a rarity around here. Very solid double shot, nether sour nor bitter. Definitely stop by this place if you're in town and like good espresso. There's a nifty roasting machine here too.
Warning to 3rd wave coffee enthusiasts from America - - as far as I can tell the Swiss "cappuccino" is much more like a latte with a little bit of foam than what we get in America. I don't want to bash this place because every single cappuccino I've tried in Switzerland has had the same issue. Since the cup is filled with milk rather than dense silky foam the espresso shot ends up extra diluted. You can kind of see what I'm talking about from some of the latte art pictures others have posted (sorry I didn't think to...
