If I was able to give 0 or negative stars I would. Not to the place, but specifically to this waiter. Very rude and disrespectful waiter (just the bald guy, Emmanuel, just to avoid confusion ). Since the moment we said we don’t have a reservation, he started acting very rudely and didn’t even want to listen to us, he was interrupting me and was saying inappropriate things like « I don’t have time », and « you are forcing me to work more than my capacity ». Such big words, we were really shocked to be honest. Is this how you treat clients ? There is a way to speak to clients and words you can not use. Go and educate yourself. You are a shame to this place.
Update : We went to complain the following day about the issue. All the staff were super friendly and this lovely blond lady to which we spoke was asking us to give it another try. I have to say they were all really amazing persons, many thanks to Thomas our waiter, an amazing person, this lovely blond lady that was very understanding and concerned by what happened, the manager and all the staff really was checking on us and making sure we got the best time. Thank you very much, for all this care, the amazing drinks and lovely warm vibe. 10/10. Definitely...
Read moreWorst cheese fondue experience I have ever had in my 47 year old Swiss citizen life!
I couldn't tell the waiter in German how disappointed we were that evening March 1st at the Adlerstube restaurant. The fondue was extremely bizarre, very salty and liquid then lumpy consistence. As far as I could understand, the waiter told us the was a problem with the dairy... But how can the restaurant serve such a poor quality fondue though very expensive to people coming from all over the world?
The waiter kindly proposed to have raclette instead. The cheese was better, but clearly under our expectations and at the level of a supermarket basic cheese. The melting system let us wordless too. I am afraid we ate cheese food that no normal tourist could accept as correct.
My daughter ate spinach and tofu raviolis which were very good according to her... So in the end, just very disappointed not being able to eat a decent cheese based meal at the Adlerstube that night.
I wrote the reception about our very sad experience one week ago but no one considered answering and apologising for it, which is the reason I decided publishing my complaint.
IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD FONDUE IN GRINDELWALD, DON'T GO TO ADLERSTUBE, OR YOU...
Read moreWe tried to dine at Adlerstube in Grindelwald and had a very disappointing experience. We called ahead 30 minutes before arriving and were assured they had walk-in availability. Shortly after, a massive rainstorm hit, and we ran half a mile through the pouring rain to get there. When we arrived, the restaurant was less than a quarter full, yet we were flatly refused a table.
We asked if we could at least sit at the bar and wait, but the staff refused, insisting they had “200 reservations,” even though almost every table sat empty. When pressed, the manager finally admitted they were holding tables for hotel guests or parties of four or more. His manner was extremely rude and dismissive, showing no effort to accommodate us, even when we offered to wait in case of a cancellation.
For a restaurant in such a well-known destination, the lack of honesty, basic hospitality, and respect for paying customers was shocking. We left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. I cannot recommend Adlerstube, especially to travelers who expect even a minimal level of courtesy...
