Even when I’m upset, I usually don’t write long detailed review like this. But, this time I was so offended that I have to leave a review for everyone. This kind of behavior would be considered extremely rude and unacceptable not just in Switzerland, but anywhere in the world. And to make matters worse, it also had clear signs of racial discrimination. I was aware that the restaurant closes at 4pm, but after a long trip to Grindelwald and being absolutely starving, I tried asking if it was possible to eat around 3:30pm. No staff were present at first, so we waited for quite a while. Eventually, a young female staff showed up and gave us a look that basically said why are you even here..? with an unpleasant disgusted expression. And then she told us to wait saying it was almost closing time and she had to check. She went into the kitchen and came back saying it was okay, but immediately started rushing us saying It’s until 4 so you need to order right now really fast. She spoke in a rude pushy tone that was clearly disrespectful. We explained that of course we were going to eat quickly and leave quickly and we were about to sit down to order. But shockingly, as she was about to hand us the menu, she pulled back and said again you need to order right now, or just take it to go, decide now. She kept pushing us repeatedly saying we had to order immediately in a forceful and aggressive way. If they didn’t want to serve, then she could have just said that clearly from the start, it’s close to closing time so we can’t take orders. Simple. But instead, she came back from the kitchen saying it was okay, then treated us like we made something big wrong just for walking in. And the cherry on top, exactly as she ‘commanded’, we ordered immediately, ate quickly, paid quickly, even left before the customers who were already seated when we arrived. And yet, as soon as we paid, she walked away without saying a single word, and then walked over to the other customers right away and warmly asked are you enjoying your meal?^^ and took an additional order with a big friendly smile. I would consider this racial discrimination,...
Read moreYou would be doing yourself a disservice if you looked past this place!! Nestled in a corner of Hotel Fiescherblick in Grindelwald is an unsuspecting Japanese food truck with perfect outdoor seating mountain views that serves dishes packing with authentic Japanese flavours. We ordered a spicy salmon and mango salmon sushi and a Tan Tan Ramen with beef mince. The sushi was delicious filled with fresh ingredients but the flavours of the tan tan were next to none that after one sip, we went to buy another bowel of ramen. We got the Pork Tonkatsu and WOW! The broth was so delicious I genuinely didn't know if I was back home in Sydney or in Switzerland. The owner/chef was so friendly as well and you can tell he looks after each dish he prepares. I would strongly recommend anyone to visit! I'll...
Read moreIt would have been a great meal as the food was lovely, the service was good and the decor in the restaurant is very elegant, however, the experience was somewhat ruined when the bill came and we saw that they charge 12 CHF for a jug of tap water. This is not right for a restaurant to charge for tap water which is almost free to them, especially when the customer is already ordering alcoholic drinks. We were accepting of the general price of the meal (which was high, with 4 pieces of sushi costing 20 CHF), however, trying to charge for tap water is insulting and just creates an awkward situation for customers and waiters. I hope the establishment changes this as I've never experienced this before...
