Le Central Lausanne — Restaurant in Lausanne

I’ve never left a bad review before, but this experience left me shocked.

I came with a friend who ordered tartar but couldn’t eat it because the meat tasted off to her. Instead of simply offering an alternative, both the manager and waiter spent about 20 minutes trying to convince us it was “fresh and tasty.” The fact that she could not eat it at all seemed irrelevant to them (she tried it and we returned it immediately).

During this, the manager’s tone became increasingly confrontational. At one point, when I laughed at the absurdity of the situation, he told me directly: “I don’t like your laugh, you shouldn’t laugh.” I was confused by his reaction because I didn’t mean any harm. Shortly after, he said he didn’t want to speak to me anymore. He chose to take something situational personally and respond with an insult, rather than finding a respectful solution.

It did not feel like a discussion between adults, but rather a one-sided, aggressive exchange in which the customer’s perspective was dismissed entirely. Overall, the lack of basic hospitality and the way we were spoken to completely ruined the evening. Please avoid at all costs if you want to...

A customer should never have to fight just to be heard and treated with respect especially when the food has bad taste. Definitely not a place I would recommend.

Very disappointing experience from start to finish. I ordered a dish that I couldn’t eat because it (beef tasted bad), yet instead of simply replacing it, the staff insisted it was perfectly fine because ‘the chef and owner tried it.’ They refused to listen, pushed me to order a second dish, and expected me to pay for both. The conversation felt like talking to a wall — they were determined to make me accept their version of the truth.

The responsible person first offered a 20% discount, then 50%, since I didn’t eat the plate but only the small salad served separately and eventually got into an argument with my friend and started speaking to her arrogantly. Only after this he appreciated my calm and factual way of speaking and agree not to charge me at all, which they treated as if they were doing me a favor. This is not hospitality — it’s confrontation.

To make matters worse, even the small salad I ate was served dry, without olive oil, so I literally had few pieces of lettuce...

Wir haben zu fünft im Le Central gespeist und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten uns zwar fast alle für dasselbe Menu entschieden (Entrecôte mit Pommes Frites) so dass ich nicht über verschiedene Gerichte eine Aussage machen kann. Was wir bekommen haben war jedoch absolut perfekt (unterschiedliche Garpunkte hatten wir nämlich wie gewünscht), die Pommes waren knusprig und gut gewürzt. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis war okay da es sich um so etwas wie das Tagesmenu handelte.

Die Bedienung war äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend - auffallend war, dass praktisch ausschliesslich junge Männer bedient haben. Die Mehrheit der Gäste war eher jünger und wir haben den Altersdurchschnitt sicher stark angehoben.

Die Karte ist vielfältig und bietet von Burgern, Pizza und Pasta für jedermann ein passendes Menu zur Auswahl. Was ich an Burgern gesehen habe, welche an anderen Tischen serviert wurden liess mir das Wasser im Mund zusammenlaufen und macht Lust auf einen weiteren Besuch im Le Central.
