Hôtel des Voyageurs Boutique — Hotel in Lausanne

BEWARE - nice hotel with a BIG catch. Great location, decent modern rooms - and if you like it cool, they try to help with fans and slightly clunky portable aircon (which is useless as you need the window open for it to work). But they try at least. Reasonable breakfast. ||||HOWEVER: the big problem is their small print which is tantamount to a con or scam: if you leave your key in your room accidentally and lock yourself out, as I did, and come back after 11, they charge you up to 200 francs for the simple privilege of having a new room key made!||||This is totally unheard of in modern hotels across the globe. It was not pointed out to me at check in (although it is in the smalll print - nobody reads that so they should inform you at least) — this is a total, appalling rip-off.|||| I don’t know Swiss law but it feels completely dishonorable (if not illegal) for to make guests pay that much when all it took was letting me in remotely and making a new key. 10 francs, ok. Even 20 francs is pushing it. But up to 10x that is an outrageous. |||| I paid it so as not to argue but have never been so disgusted by an hotel. Truly, even though they reduced the ‘fine’ to CHF 100, this represents a dreadful scam and totally disgusting way to treat guests. ||||It should not be the guests’ fault that the hotel is too disgustingly cheap to offer proper night service. They do not deserve to succeed if they scam guests this...

Another horribly hot hotel…fan provided to blow the hot air and noise to keep you awake at night. you can’t leave your window open at night unless you don’t want to use the shade to block out the night lights from across your courtyard. The shade is on a control that only allows shut or open nothing in between. One towel for bath and one for hand. But don’t ask for any more downstairs because they won’t have any. There’s a hot comforter in the room with an option of a sheet that’s in a drawer, but there wasn’t. Another trip downstairs to ask for one. The office is open only until 10pm…so hopefully something doesn’t breakdown in the night. No plug outlets by the bed Just old iPad inserts that don’t fit the new phones or iPad. Because there’s no air conditioning, and the bathroom has an odd configuration, it gets no air flow into it at all. Permanent hot box. I did ask if there was another room, but was told they are always full! Who would want to stay here? I’m forced to because it’s a Rick Steve’s tour…. No hand lotion, but on the plus side there’s a fridge and hot water kettle. The bed seems comfortable enough but in the heat...

Ero un po' spaventato dalle recensioni lette dopo la prenotazione ma devo dire che mi sono trovato bene all'Hotel des Voyageurs. Credo che il gradimento dell'albergo dipenda molto dai gusti personali. Sicuramente piacerà alle persone che apprezzano lo stile rustico e tradizionale. Al contrario, chi preferisce hotel moderni con tutti i confort, dovrebbe indirizzarsi su qualcos'altro. Io ho alloggiato nella camera 558, ultimo piano (quindi nessun problema con gli inquilini del piano di sopra), singola, per non fumatori. La camera è accogliente a abbastanza piccola. L'ho ritrovata pulita e ordinata ogni giorno. La moquette è sudicia il giusto (non credo la cambino ogni settimana e in Svizzera si usa). La piccola tv a tubo catodico è rimasta spenta come sarebbe rimasta spenta qualsiasi altra tv. Vicino alla tv, sulla scrivania in legno, ho trovato un bollitore per l'acqua (che non ho usato) e il necessario per preparare il tè. Il letto è piccolo e abbastanza scomodo, il cuscino minuscolo. Oltre a questo nella stanza c'è un armadio capiente (con cassetta di sicurezza), un comodino e il frigo bar. Il bagno, al contrario di quanto letto in altri commenti, è moderno e pulito con ampia doccia, gabinetto e lavandino. Non so se hanno riformato l'hotel recentemente o sono capitato in una camera "fortunata". Se proprio devo trovare qualcosa di antiquato nella camera sono i serramenti ma sono sopravvissuto comunque. Il resto dell'hotel è molto tradizionale, è disposto su 5 piani con una bella scalinata con passamano in legno e la moquette a terra. Per muoversi c'è comunque un piccolo e veloce ascensore. Sul pianerottolo del primo piano, dove c'è la sala per la colazione, c'è un "lavandino decorativo, antico patrimonio dell'hotel", dannatamente kitsch ma d'altronde siamo in Svizzera... La colazione l'ho trovata abbondante. Ho provato a chiedere un espresso e mi hanno detto che dovevo aspettare 5 minuti, ho quindi optato per il classico caffè e latte... Oltre a questo succhi di frutta, marmellate, brioches, formaggio, prosciutto, yogourt, cereali, pane, burro e altro... Tutto il personale è molto gentile e cordiale. La wifi è gratis ma non molto veloce. La reception chiude alle 23 e al check-in ti viene dato un codice di sicurezza con cui aprire la porta principale di notte. Le stanze si aprono e si chiudono con la chiave, come una volta, niente tessere magnetiche. In generale giudico la mia permanenza (4 notti) positivamente. L'unica nota negativa è probabilmente il letto piuttosto scomodo. Come detto in precedenza lo consiglio a chi apprezza lo stile tradizionale e non è...
