This is one of the staple classy cafes / diner bars in central Lausanne. Perfect for an afternoon or evening meal / drink on the balcony in the summer (or even later, many of the tables outside are under marquées). Good (small) selection of beers, tasty cocktails. Recently went there for a lunch and it didn’t disappoint - green curry with prawns was done very well, with the perfect amount of heat. For dessert we had ‘an autre cappuccino’ - simply amazing crème brûlée with cream from chestnuts and and aniseed. Food is a little on the pricey side but, unlike some places in Lausanne, you know what you’re paying for.

EDIT March 2023 - Having recently come back there, the food menu has gotten much simpler and basic, in a bad way. It’ll be a while before i come back for food. Drink wise, the waiter didn’t know what a negroni is.. a little underwhelming. The berry spritz tastes water down and is simply not good. Their basic gin cocktail with berries was good. The kitchen closes at 10 for a bar opened until late - it would be a good idea to have peanuts, olives or crisps to sell after the kitchen closes.. these are basics.

If you’re charging 1 chf for a carafe of tap water (« for the climat » what nonsense..), have the waiters say that when the customers make the order, so we can make a conscious decision. And please remove...

A super snobby place. Have been there 3 times. One time for drink which was good as drinks are not bad and the place is well located with nice interior design (2 years ago). One time we held the birthday of a friend (a group of 6). They took the cake and accepted to bring it as a surprise after main dish, We ordered 1 starters drinks and ordered the main dish (which was the roasted beef to be shared). After that, they informed us that they won’t bring the cake and it was a miscommunication! as they thought they were supposed to keep the cake for us and give us back. They said we can only have dessert from their menu. The cost of dinner was over 55chf per person! And except for the one starter everything else didn’t taste decent. I tried the place another time when I read they were serving fresh oyster and escargot. The escargot (5) was supermarket quality and the oyster (5) was fresh and pleasant to eat with the sauce. But it costed about 24chf for each of the two starters the cost of which is insanely high. So we decided to leave for “les boucanier” where for the cost of 24chf you can eat handmade super fresh and tasty burgers and feel full afterwards 😉. A place to avoid if you are not tempted by its nice...

Hey, Loxton, do better.

While the food is good, I can safely say the staff ruined our Sunday lunch/brunch and they probably won't see us again. If the lunch reservation is at 1h30 pm (offered through online service) and the closing time is clearly written (also at the entrance) as 4pm, then why would staff passively aggressively (emphasis on aggressively) start to kick the customers out before 3pm? First staffer came to take the "last call" order before 3pm telling us they close at 3.30, then 10min later another staffer came to say they are already closed.. Then we ask him which is it, and he doesn't know. Then excessively loud music, so we have to yell to talk to each other. Then a bill arrives, not so subtly. It's not even 3h10. At 3.12, they bluntly ask us to leave while also turning away other customers (who also read the closing hour downstairs).

Here's a tip - if you want to close earlier than your indicated business hours and while customers are still eating, then be decent, come over and 1) explain the situation, 2) apologize and 3) as a classy bonus, offer coffee on the house. We are not unreasonable people, we just don't like to be bullied into leaving by methods worthy of a...

Went there for dinner on a Friday night. Fair choice of menu with options for the meat lovers and not only. Service could improve though being Friday evening it was really not an issue. Suggestion: the wine, especially the red one we swank could have been with 2-3 lower than was served to us. Good food, good place, a friendly and witty atmosphere, quite a big of a choice on drinks (congrats on the Gin’s collection). A place to visit and have on the list for a re-visit. Will try their brunch one day and post my review here.

Nice place, but when its busy it’s vey chaotic, lots of people standing in a line to get their tables, tables are too close to each other and food quality has decreased so much since the last time I visited. I visited specifically for their delicious pain perdu that used to be served with fresh fruit compote which is unique, unfortunately the bread was burnt and bitter and they no longer serve it with fruit compote.
